I know this is a symptom of something, I just can't remember what.

Bike is in garage at idle with lights shining on opposite wall. When I increase throttle the lights get a little brighter, when I roll back the throttle they go back to "normal".

Is this acceptable for any period of time or does something need to be replaced soonest? ( 91k on 07 model) I suspect something is at the end of it's normal life expectancy.

The brighter light (when revs are up) may be the normal, and the lower light output a symptom of a weakening battery or marginal connections at the battery terminals. What's your idle speed? (below 1000 rpms might cause this as the charging system may not be up to the task at the lower revolutions).

Just a symptom of lower stator output at idle. The brighter is the normal light level, the level at idle is dimmer from reduced voltage. Nothing to worry about.

As C&C said, check your idle, should be 1100.

Yup, what they said. That is the quickest (and crudest) way to see if your alternator is working. They should go from OK looking, to a little brighter when you rev it up.

They should not go from very dim to bright. The change should be suttle but noticable. I set my idle at 1200. A little on the high side but when wearing heated gear it is welcome at a stop light.

Lower revs, less air movement...Higher revs , More air movement...The lights seem brighter.

I'd suggest opening a door when you partake in the cannabis.

JMHO,

Boy, I bet the light seemed brighter when you came up with that one, huh?
