Weather is too bad for bad weather drill

Published on: 02/21/07

ASSOCIATED PRESS

State schools and government were supposed to practice responding to bad weather on Wednesday, but the weather was too bad, says Ken Davis, a Georgia Emergency Management Agency spokesman.

Rain, which began Tuesday and is expected to let up Wednesday afternoon, was the problem.

The drill, planned as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, was rescheduled for Friday.

Heavens-to-mergatroid! We wouldn't want to see how well we cope by having a "Bad Weather Drill" in actual mildly inclement weather. Why, the office drones who will be running around assessing the situation and taking notes might actually get their "little tootsies" damp, and the photo ops might be compromised. Oh, the horrors of it all!

My thoughts exactly!!

<_< Whatever happened to "Train like your going to fight and fight how you trained".

You want to run the exercises under adverse conditions to see what the choke points are and what could and will go wrong so you can make adjustments or allowances for those situations.

Bunch of pansy desk drivers and bureaucrats.

Reminds me of the football games they cancel around here because it's raining...hahahahahaha. I grew up on the Gulf Coast of Texas and we never cancelled a football game for any reason!

Would be funny if it wasn't so true.

I recall when my agency received H&K 93s, which are one of the best made assault rifles in th world-- for use in combat conditions of all kinds.

Range practice was canceled that day because the powers that be did not want the new rifles to get wet. Guess they figured, while we were smart enough to shoot them, we weren't smart enough to know how to clean them. :glare:
