Was going to post this on the thread that tweaked my thought process but decided to better post new than hijack original thread (https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?showtopic=14242) I've been looking for good shielding to protect my camper from the generator exhaust system. I tried some from the hardware store, sticky on side, foam of some sort sandwiched in the middle, with foil on the outer service. It failed in the first 45 minutes.

My dirt bikes have a really good heat barrier that actually *contacts* the muffler and it has lasted for 6 years.

Summit Racing has some, it looks like 'carpet' material for under hood use.. What I'd really like to find is stuff like on the dirt bike.. Strong adhesive on one side, about 1/8 to 1/4" thick, and able to withstand fairly high temps. Do any of you have leads? Tx.

The summit product you want is called header wrap. They carry it in a couple of widths. I wrapped the pipes on my FJR a couple years ago and it has held up well.
