They are so effective that people can't agree about which position is for what. :blink:

All they do is restrict ambient air to the rider's legs when the bike is moving.
So, if the weather is very hot, it may pay to have them out to reduce the heating effect of the ambient air on the legs.
If the weather is very cold, having them out will reduce the cooling effect of the ambient air.
That's it. They have virtually no effect on the engine heat getting to the rider, nor can they help when the bike is stationary.
Personally, I've never had mine out, but then we don't often get the extremes of temperatures other areas get. Except the past week or so, when we've been having temperatures down to -15C (5F), my road is covered in ice. I don't "do" ice, so I can't ride at all

But even when I've been out in around freezing temperatures I've not used them. They look so
ugly
when they're out.
