Prior to departing in the early AM for four days of roadrunning I was cleaning up my Shoei front flipper helmet, warm dishwater soapy water works great, when I remembered a friends shield attachment point coming apart while being cleaned, plastic screw and little spring had fallen out at some time down the road sooo I took my hat apart and tightened screws, which were a little loose. Ran in to another rider on a past trip that had to use duct tape for the same reason. These screws are a good thing to check on a yearly basis.

I would think that everyone does that when they get started riding for the season. My helmet is no different than the riding suit, tires, brakes.
