I would guess it's your browser settings or your ISP (browsing from work?) is blocking.

When you hear the "boink" noise, check your messages that tend to pop up just below your controls for internet explorer. You may also have a pop-up blocker that is blocking the site. Are you by chance using Cox Internet Suite? Your links are being blocked most likely because you have software to protect your computer from porn site and ad farm links that pop up dozens of pages with the click of one simple link.
