Just wondering if anyone is familuar with how and what to use to video tape on a bike without mounting a camcorder on the bike.

I remember seeing a helmet cam being used, but what was it connect to for the A/V? a smaill A/V recorder in a tank bag? What type? and where can I get one of those? I have the A/V 12 volt camera but I am trying to figure out what recorder to use.

I am testing some new GPS motorcycle product and would like to have a video tape of it for reference.

Thanks in advance for the help

James, TeeRex on this board and David1300 on FJROwners are 2 that spring to mind who have used video and posted. You might try a message to either of those two owners for more specific information.

IIRC David has a mount on his right fairing, I think Teerex uses a helmet cam, but there are other mounts. One of these two guys should be able to help, if others don't chime in.

SC-X105L

Samsung sports cam. Comes with external helmet cam.

Hey, you should become a vendor for these so I can get a discount on one :)

Hey madmike2

Thanks a bunch for the heads up,

What I was acutally looking for is the setup for the camcorder to camera, what others are using.

I did some reserach and found this website My Webpage that had the camera and they made recommendations as to what camcorder have video in features.

Thank GOD one of my Sony have this feature.

I already have the camera, I can use the wireless spy camera and mount it on the helmet and have my Sony in the tank bag recording the results. Lots of stuff to test these days and not enough time to test them all.

I really appricate everyones input. ;)

I think the https://www.techbiker.com/ is selling the steam stand mount which I am already using for my GPS, not sure if they are offering a discount to me, but if they are, I will be more then happy to pass the saving to everyone else.

Here is the list of Sony camcorders that can be use with the A/V camera for those of you that wish to record your ride action.

I've seen guys mount the camera down low on their front fork. They snake the cable back up to a tank bag w/ video camera. Awesome angle!!

I would agree except I have to show the GPS performance as I am riding the bike so the helmet cam would have to do. I tired using a camcorder on the tank bag, not to good of an idea. ;)

There are also some rigid cam-corder mounts that screw into the dummy screws on the gas cap ring. If I remember right this is a fairly common yamaha pattern, and this is something you might cound find for a std sportbike. The ones i've seen the camera position is adjustable enough to catch a GPS and still get a good view of the road.

I think Teerex uses a helmet cam
Good memory, Madmike2 ;)

I use a Sony 480 bullet camera velcroed to my helmet (or alternatively to other parts of the bike, i.e. atop the brake-fluid reservoir or on the rear fender's side for the sake of variety :) ).

The camera is connected to a 20GB hard-drive (an Archos 420), which I carry in a backpack.

The whole kit (perfectly wired for immediate use) comes from Colorado. I bought it from www.skullcamz.com and they're very good people to deal with.

Stef

PS: It may sound like a shameless plug, but those guys really rock!
