Wet everything down with soapy water. No matter what, can't get the grip puppy on more than about half way. Pretty sure it's the right size. I have standard grips, no heaters, small GPs.

Help!!!

Serious suggestions only, PLEASE!

:(

Use compressed air, the grip installers friend. ;)

Thanks for the suggestions. I am very familiar with using compressed air on grips. But I think I found the problem. The outer half of the stock grip was not glued down. So it was swelling inside the Grip Puppy every time I tried pushing it on.

I'll have to re-glue the stock grip and then try again tomorrow. Wish me luck!

you can also get a soaped up bic pen, and shove it under there and turn it around and around the grip, at the same time your pulling the grip on......

just another method I have used, not saying its better then the compressed air...

I allways use hairspray when putting on my Grip Puppies. Spray inside the Puppies and on the outside of the stock grip. Works like a charm.

What's a grip puppy?

FJRottie, thanks for taking such a nice picture of Rad at CFO last year and finally posting it! Now everyone knows what Rad looks like!

Jeff --

I'm interested in what works best....

Maybe you can use the bic pen, then air on one side,

and the hairspray trick on the other (never tried that -- but sounds like a neato idea)

Here's the final scoop...

I tried compressed air, but it doesn't work very well on grip puppies because they are so porous.

Soapy water is a must, but not the cure-all.

Smooth, round object like a screwdriver shank or small wooden dowel works great to help walk it on, but becomes pretty useless at about the 2/3 on mark.

Rolled up like a safe-sex toy makes the unit too tight to fit over the grip.

Best method...

Hose it down with lots of soapy water. Walk it on by hand as far as possible. Then use a cap snaffler (you know, one of those rubber things that helps you open jar lids etc.) to grab hold of the grip puppy. Choke that chicken that you haven't had any in weeks (which in my case is unfortunately true!). Cap snaffler gives you the grip you need to finish working that puppy in place.

Then use a cap snaffler
Wow. I didn't have to do that. I first tried a dry fitting, and got them on 1/3.

Then I used (some) soapy water and pulled them on with a little force and grunting.

Maybe you have a real small size (uh-oh, look out for flames). I didn't have that much of a pain putting them on.

I did warm the bike with a little foreplay. I said, "bite the pillow baby, I'm going in dry".

yeah.... your supposed to soak them in hot water before getting ready to put them on... I forgot about that part...

good luck... :)
