Here's a photo of one of the fires about 30 miles south east of me...

How'dja like those flames lickin' over your head? Gotta give those firefighters props for sticking their necks out like that...

Sheeeeit! That's some scary stuff there TWN. Wouldn't like it nope not one bit. JB

TWN,

If that stuff is 30 miles from you and if it's as bad as I saw in the news GET THE F@#! OUTTA DODGE! Or Mayberry. Stay safe and take your FJR with ya.

Grnarrowe

Eh, we're good. The firedogs are knocking the **** out of it. Dems boyz and girlz be da bomb fo sho! We just have some ash floating around... No biggie.

one thing they give wildland firefighters is an 'emergency shelter' in case of being overrun by a rapidly approaching fire storm...

these 'shelters' are best envisioned by their derisive name of 'baked potato(e) shelter'... they are an aluminised material that is stepped into by the firefighter, then they lay down on a flat area (an attempt to reduce the risk of flames poking in thru voids) holding the baked potato(e) cover over theirselves with their feet and arms at the respective corners...

of course, the shelter also works as a shield to keep your 2-way radio calls for assistance from being received by others...

Old news. California burns EVERY year. San Diego a couple of years ago, the "stars" homes along the beach last year, yadda, yadda, yadda.

You can tell everyone I told you so, but in a few months there are going to be areas of California that flood and the hills will slide and wash out because of the fall fires!!! It happens every fricken year!!! But because its CA it's big news!!! They could just pull stock video from years past for the news coverage. Yawn!

:lazy:

What, just because nothing ever happens in Minnihaha ya gotta get your panties in a bunch? Besides, the point of the photo was the flame licking over the firefighters not the fact that California is burning again. Finally, where have you been? Don't you know by now that the world revolves around it's axis of California and NYC? :D :p

A raging fire in south central would probably have the effect of reducing the crime rate in LA by more than half. :devilsmiley:

Maybe if they planted more brush in Watts? ;)
Ahem... South Central. Watts leaves a bad taste in the mouths of locals for some strange reason...
Did you forget abuot Los Angeles's urban renewal? They renamed South Central... CENTRAL so the people would think they were moved to a better neiborhood!
