726 mile day. Began the day at 0510 hrs, and arrived home at 1925, two minutes before Goose thought I could, going a different way than Goose recommended, due to heavy traffic. Goose is very tolerant of adversity.

To be continued, and hopefully added to by the other players....

I look forward to hearing what everyone has to say about 36,

especially those who were enjoying it for the first time.

... great sharing the road with you Toecutter.

But geez, be careful who you stand next to, or your good name will go straight to hell.

Nice try Om.

That was me you were following. "I" was following the infamous Toecutter. Smooth, yes. But somewhere in my mirrors there was an '06 topped off with an obtrusive yellow helmet that was aching to keep up.

Hope that wasn't you.

MM2 get a new helmet?

Bye the bye. Anne Marie thinks your legs are hot. Go figure!

Sally Dude, I'm aware you were between me and the Toemeister.

Hard to miss you, with those feathers flying off your boa.

Your form was,.............um,....nice bike Mark.

Oh, and thanks for all the great photos and commentary. Makes me wish I'd been there.

Bob, Nice Picture of Highway 36 End sign, kudos to the photographer! and

wow! what a gleaming bike in front of your bike, we really should have had

you hold up the "No Parking" sign!

My pleasure completely on meeting everyone! Highway 36 is in my backyard,

and I take it for granted, I think its a rough pisspoor road, however, it can sure

be fun when riding with others!

In Meeting people on this little trip, I learned the following from the following people,

Ford Fairlane, when called Diceman, reports, "Fuggin A"

Brian, Comfortable saddle by Russel or Mayer

Cello II, A sausage burrito is not scrambled eggs

Bluestreak or GFran, white knuckles are normal for Highway 36

Old Michael, real comfort,,, it "Depends"

And nobody was impressed with Downtown Mad River!

I started out following two bikes behind Richard, but that dude sets a pace I don't feel comfortable keeping up with. He needs to, in order to stop every half-hour for a smoke, while everybody else catches up. Big props to him for setting this ride up! :clapping:

I really don't think I could have gone much quicker without "staying right", and even then, I had to stand it up a bit when marbles were kicked onto the road in many of the tight right-handers. Anyway, in my book, it sure beats violating that double-yellow midline. Do that at the wrong moment, and you could be ended.

I expected 36 to be a bit more technical, which it is in spots but, for the most part, it's pretty open, and not much traffic with not one LEO spotted the whole way. That ride was a fricken blast for about three hours, but getting home afterward, 440 miles through the heart of bay-area traffic, was a bit of a grind. I couldn't figure out why I was so uncomfortable, until today, when I started down the stairs for the morning elixir. My legs lit me up! I guess "Doin it" for 140 miles will put a hurt on when one hasn't seasoned one's legs on some good twisties in quite some time....

I so dumb! There's an In-n-Out about a good 3 wood from my house, but no, I have to go like 850 miles to enjoy the "Experience" of the Mad River Burger Bar!

Seein' as how Tim probably sat at that same table and chowed on one of their fine creations, I wouldn't have had it any other way, and the event needed some fine Cerulean representation....

Matter of fact, he did!

A few pics of my own. I rode up on Sunday to meet Sir Richard Bluestreek and FJRonamission(Brian) in Quincy

Here we have a great beginning on the Feather? River. Could be the Feather. Might not be. I was busy enjoying the ride. Can't be bothered with particulars. All I know is it ain't the Mississippi.

Here the gang meets for breakfast.

A while later, after bidding goodbye to Steve and Cindy, Fairlaner, FJRonamission, and I head up HWY89 to Lake Almanor

I think it was Lake Almanor. I know it wasn't Lake Michigan.

We arrive in Red Bluff. I think it was Red Bluff. Well you get the idea. I wasn't sure because everywhere I looked I thought I saw Bustanut. We finally hook up with OM and as you can see from the following, it is no wonder Anne Marie is secretly in love with OM. Or at least his pasty white legs.

A little pocket pool anyone?

IMG_0087.jpg

Finally, I paid OM $20 to take a keepsake photo of me in front of the infamous sign. You can see from the quality of this picture, the framing, the lighting, the fill flash, etc. that OM obviously pays a professional photographer to tag along with him for his less than professional Ride Reports. Gambling in Casablanca; I'm shocked, shocked!

All in all a great ride. My first time on 36. It sure didn't feel like 140 miles. It went by so quickly. There was something for everyone. Whoop de doos, sweepers, tight twisties, even a goat section or two.

Thanks Toecutter for a great pace. Another 1-2 MPH faster and I think we could have lost OM. Maybe next time.

And thanks Richard and Brian for a most entertaining night with Colleen.

For the weekend, which included Mother's Day in Reno, 1122 miles, avg. fuel economy 40.7 @ an average cost of $2.43/gallon. Top speed classified and unwitnessed, average speed "slightly faster than the flow of traffic"....

Great riding with ya Toeman........... You put on more miles then I did.......

Stay safe and we will see you down the road......

B.
