Quick question about the Wild Bill Highway mounts/pegs.

Although, I haven't ordered them yet, I will be in the next day or two. In the mean time I've been thinking about what type of peg I should attach. I want to make this farkle look as close to stock as I can. Which means, I plan on getting the Wild Bill mounts powdercoated to match the engine covers, and.... here's my question..... has anyone tried attaching an extra set of rear foot pegs to the Wild Bill mount? What I'm hoping for is a peg that looks like it came from Yammie and at the same time is capable of folding up and out of the way making it disappear when not in use.

Thanks,

The way a rear peg mounts and the way the wild bill pegs mount are not compatible. If you send them to Garauld, he can powder coat them for you.

The pegs do fold up, and they are really not noticable.

I just received a set of bills pegs and plates and I think that I'm going to get another set of front pegs and do a little modifying so the pegs look the same.

Which set of pegs did you originally purchase with the mounts?

I had a set of WB brackets powdercoated engine gray by Garauld. They are a wonderful match. I wouldn't recommend the pegs that WB has for sale w/ the brackets. They really look like cheese... buy that is just my opinion. A lot of folks like them just fine. Brackets are wonderful pieces, though. You will enjoy them.

A word of advice... as tempting as it is to add extensions to make the pegs stick out further from the fairings, this makes a good touchdown point when leaned over in a curve. Already had 1 friend lowside because of this.

If you get the offset pegs they can be rotated up away enough so that the riders pegs and muffler are first to scrape. And yes, I've road tested it!

Extension can be done but they have to be done right. If you make a rigid extension you'll be asking for trouble. If you make the entension part of the peg (so it too can fold up) then you can tuck it all up when hitting the curves just like the peg itself). Kuryakyn's peg designs work like that and their dog-legged design means you can add some distance to the reach, too.

Something like their Longhorn can get you the adjustable reach with the dog leg and the optional 3.5" extension can get you out past the fairing without having to kink your lets wile, at the same time, it folds at the clevis so the assenmbly doesn't stick out any farther than the clevis of which ever peg design you choose.

That peg folds up so it is out of the way.

The Kuyakyn extension IS the one that touched down. I suppose that it depends on the camber of the road, etc. Me, I have no extensions. Any thought of actually having extensions was brushed into oblivion after friend lowsided because of them.

Edited to add: Keith, I LOVE the color of your bike.

Thanks for the pic! Now it makes sense. I was not sure how "cruiser style" the riding would be with forward pegs, that's not so far-fetched as I was thinkin'. And I agree, SHARP bike, K!

Could someone post a pic of these pegs (or any pegs) installed? I have never seen them on an FJR and not sure where or what to imagine...
Here's some. Sorry it's so dirty, but I put on almost 700 miles over the weekend taking "Dam" pictures.

These are Kuryakyn offsets and pegs. I purchased a Kuryakyn package-deal at the local H-D shop and tossed the clamps that came with them (for attaching to an engine-guard). Without the offsets the pegs are too close for my long legs.

Note that with the heat-management vents on the Gen II bikes in the extended (out) position I can't really use these because the vent-thingys push my legs out too far.

The ones with the rubber inset into them but they are chrome and they look like they belong on a chopper!

I think if I play around I can make the stock rider pegs work.

LDRydr, Why aren't Your photos visible?
I'm seeing them. Is anybody else having trouble seeing them? They are on my public Google Picasa web site where my others are. Firewall/content filter issue on your side?
That's wierd, I can go to your picasa public folder, but in the post they are just white boxes with red Xs in the middle.

Never mind.

They loaded this time. Third time's the charm.

Here's what I did on my scooter. The knurling on the pegs do a nice job of keeping my feet on them... Please don't ask me to make a set of extenders for you - too darned time intensive.
