Meh. Had one of those on the back of our '75 Oldsmobile station wagon. GM called it a disappearing tailgate. :)

I would bet that they had to raise the floor of that Mercury when they modified it, which raise your feet under the dashboard, or in the back, pushes your knees up into your face.

The video states that both the floor and seats are in original position, and that ground clearance was the same as original. I just got a kick out of all the douches in white socks and loafers. Tech was good, but I kept expecting Ron Burgundy to step out of the car.

Man, ya should have waited a couple of weeks and bombed us with that on April 1.

It vexes me that it seems to defy the space/time continuum and maybe some conservation of space and energy. If one were to try to locate a company that designs, fabricates, installs or sells the doors where would they be? Stranger than truth, a good hoax is easier to construct than a good product.

Then again, I may just be a crotchety, cynical, cranky Yankee

I agree, WAY cool idea. Where are they? Perhaps out of business. Their website "disappearing-car-door.com" is available from GoDaddy. And to ionbeam, the video was too slick to have been a complete fabrication
