I was feeling cheap after buying the Heli triple clamp and wanted to mount my detector differently than I had it. I used supplies I had lying around: 1- 3/8 bolt 3" long, 1- 5/16 bolt 4 3/4" long, 2-5/16 nuts, 1-3/8 nut, some velcro, 1-ziptie,1- flat washer and an old steel sheet metal shelf. I cut the heads off both the bolts, cut the sheet metal smaller than the base of the detector, welded the 1-5/16 nut to the bottom of the shelf, welded the non threaded ends of the bolts together @ an angle to have the detector shelf level. Used the other 5/16 nut to lock the detector shelf in the proper direction and the 3/8 nut to lock the base @ the triple tree with a washer below it (so the nut didn't scratch the triple tree). I velcroed the detector to the shelf and added a zip tie to secure it.

It came out better than I expected (my wife wasn't too impressed). It would have been easier to use round bar and tap the ends after bending it to the proper angle, but I didn't have any.

I routed a audio cable through that pops out beteen the front and rear seats that I plug my earphones into.

It's funner to make things instead of always buying the stuff isn't it!

That said, you should consider putting a RAM magnetic powerplate on top of it.

The scum  then can't steal your detector with a pair of scissors.

design, plasma cut, weld, sandblast, paint, repeat.

good job, have fun
