My wife is looking to purchase a Honda Fit Sport model. She would like a Prius but the hybrid premium doesnt close from a business case perspective considering I have a deal on a sport model for $15.7k and the Prius last time I checked two years ago was ~$22k. We drove a Prius for a month 2 years ago and liked it alot.

Obviously, it gets good reviews and from all the material I have seen it gets real world gas mileage of around 33mpg or so (Much better than our current car!). I was wondering if there were any forum members out there who own one who might be able to offer their opinion/insight.

So far, the only negative I have read about it is that on the interstate it can get whipped around a bit on a windy day when passed by a semi truck....other than that it appears to be OK.

Thanks!

I have been living in LA for the last 2 years. When I was last back in Australia last November, I drove my mothers new Honda Fit it for a couple of weeks. For such a small car it was alot of fun. Honda invented variable valve timing in their F1 engines 10 years+ ago and the benefits have filtered down into their every day enginines. Most of the driving I did was city driving so cannot really comment about interstate driving. If I was i the market for this kind of car I would certainly recommend it.

Hope this helps

My S.O.'s father manages a honda dealership and raves about the FIT. I wouldn't rule out the value package accord either. It comes with everything you need, air/heat, cruise, automatic trans... you can pick one of those up for about 18k easy (don't let them b.s. talk you about the price). MPG are similar, but a totally different looking car.

The price you got quoted for the FIT is good, because they can't keep them on the floor so they are usually asking for MSRP since the demand is so high.
