Well we know Smitty has had to withdraw from his ride...but we can still ride the good roads there in Missouri. :clapping:

May 16th - 18th

Since I had blocked off that time from work...same weekend as Smitty's post...This is coming up quickly so make your plans now.

Ride into Bonne Terre, MO on Friday

staying at the Super 8 Motel

8 northwood dr.

Bonne Terre, Mo. 63628.....................Or at the Red Cedar Lodge just up the road. ( I will post up for sure right after the SE Ohio Ramble)

eat at the Catfish Kettle Friday night :yahoo: ...

Breakfast at the Huddle House (next to the Super 8)and kickstands up at 8am from the Huddle House...

...to ride the great roads that Smitty laid out for us last year...

...then have dinner at one of the fine area establishments that Hooterville has to offer. What do you say? :clapping:

It's still on my calendar. I think Pending may come as well. Probably stay at the utterly cheap, nothing special, Red Cedar Lodge. After having stayed at the Super 8 five or more times, I'm not that impressed with it, either. Then again, a couple more stays and I might get a free night, which puts it down into the Red Cedar Lodge price range.

Fingers crossed for good weather. Sure not had luck for good weekend weather over here this year.

Weather permitting, I should be there. The next weekend, the 25th, Petey and I are leaving for Alaska on our KLR's.

I stayed at the Red Roof Inn and although not fancy it was adequate for the price, besides that, your not buying the place. St. LouisFJR, (Steve) might have an interest, this is his neighborhood.

See you at NAFO...if not before.

griff and I have reservations at the Super 8...

We'll see you guys there.

Oh, and BTW...a little bird told me that FJRocket will be blazing the trail for us on Saturday. :yahoo:

Remember...Catfish Kettle on Friday night...all you can eat. :clapping:

Enclosed is a rough look at the area we will be riding...

FJRocket will tweak this a little bit...but this is essentially it. Have you run this area of MO before? If you have...you know what a treat will be in store for you...if you haven't - come find out what it's all about! :clapping:

So, is the madman bringing his Rocket Plane or Rocket Bike?

There is a good chance that a friend of mine from KC will be coming.

Here's my version of the Hoot Loop:

Hoot4002008.jpg

It's slightly different on the west side where it goes through Bunker. Gets us down and back east a little quicker and easier. Might put us in Piedmont for lunch slightly earlier. It does hit most all of the roads we know and love. Either route affords lots of outs to the east in the afternoon. My route is 402 miles as is, and it will be a FULL day.

As far as leading goes, well, I can do that. My GPS sucks and my memory does too. I'm so used to following on these rides that I'll surely get us lost. Or go too slow for some of you. I think I'll still have Stinkos on the AE, so I won't probably be carving anything up. Look out in the straights, though!

Pending and I are planning on being at the Super 8 in time to go to Farmington for Catfish!

If anyone is bringing along a sport bike companion with a small tank or high fuel consumption, let us know. There's a couple places where it might be tight on fuel if you can only go 125 miles or so. But it really should be OK for everyone.

YA'LL COME! :yahoo:

If anyone wants a S&T, or a Mapsource (Garmin) file for the Hoot route, just PM me with your email address. I can also email your the printed turn by turn directions from S&T if you'd like them.

We're going to have a blast! :yahoo:

OK, I've corrected my route to be a match with Mark's and Smitty's route (essentially the same as last year).

Minor change. We're eating in Doniphan at Big D's Barbeque for lunch instead of in Piedmont. The Lantern is closed, and Smitty sez Big D's is Big Deelicious. Save room for Dog N Suds about 1+ hour from the end, too. Then who knows what for dinner.

Plan on stops at least at Bixby, Winona (Casey's or wherever), Doniphan, and Cherokee Pass (DNS). All four places have gas and eats. I'm sure we'll probably make a couple other wee stops enroute as well.

Another change. I'll probably be trying to keep up with that big orange dirt bike. He knows the way, and he's faster than most (if not all) of us, so I defer to the seasoned local expert.

Those of you who are going to Alaska after this ride, please be prepared to tell us about your proposed trip over catfish. Then when you get back, we're all going riding again so you can give us a post op debrief.

Again, I can send you a turn by turn from my S&T, the S&T file, or a Mapsource file. They should be all the same, but I did the MS and ST files by hand separately, so no garuntees. But as always, we won't make any turns until sweep shows up. I'm going to have Smitty and Wheaton look them over before I ship them out.
