Looking for some board wisdom...

So I have an I phone that will play music while I ride and I'd like to be able to take a call. I've looked at some of the usual ways to do this, Starcom, Autocom, Garmin bluetooth, etc. and have decided that for right now I just want a simple connection which will

1. Plug into my Iphone

2. Connect to my earbuds

3. Connect to a helment mike

I'm thinking there must be some cable splitters out there. Any wiring suggestions, componet suggestions (helmet mike) would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks in advance!!

Thanks, I will contact Jeff to see what he says, looking forward to ideas from others on here as well.

I use the Shure noise isolating earbuds (SE310) on mine and purchased the Apple (Shure) adapter: https://www.shure.com/PersonalAudio/Product...A_phone_adapter

that lets you take calls while you ride. It has a microphone built into it with a wind guard that works pretty well. The whole system works like a champ!

BTW, I just ordered a set of custom made flush fitting earplugs with high fidelity earphones built in. They will also plug into the adapter.

Thanks for the info toynut, Sorry to hear about your lattitude ;) (Spent 11 years in Canton/Ann Arbor). How do you use the microphone? Does it just hang down, or does it mount inside your Helmet? Have you tried it at highway speeds?

This might be just what I'm looking for right now.

Oh, and how long is this Sure adapter cable?

I highly recommend adding at least a mixer to your wired setup so that you can mix your radar detector audio into the helmet.

:)

The microphone adapter: https://www.shure.com/PersonalAudio/Product...A_phone_adapter

has worked quite well for me in local traffic of about 60mph. I have not had a chance to test it at faster speeds. My wife will generally not call me when I am riding. The Voiceport microphone/switch pod has a clip that allows you to clip it near the top of your jacket near your chin. It allows the phone to be used the same way the Iphone earbuds work. I have a pair of Shure se310 earbuds that work well, though I had to practice putting on a tight fitting Arai a few times to keep them from getting knocked off. They come with a short cord that is designed to use one of the extension cords, so the overall length is not a problem. I recently ordered a pair of Big Ear custom bike specific ear phones at the Detroit motorcycle show which should work /fit even better. BTW, the Shure adapter will work with other earbuds. You can get them at an Apple store, too.
