The weather is warming up here in beautiful Colorado, my overtime at work will be over in a three weeks or less, gas is going up weekly, and I'm frustrated cuz I can't ride my beautiful dark-cherry baby cuz it won't start. The weekends are the only time I have to work on it, and I still have hope that I can fix it without having to pay the dealer. Work has beaten the living sh$t out of me and I've been looking forward to riding since Christmas as "a reward." But not this week.

So how do you handle the frustration when you can't ride? Where do you draw the line of telling yourself to suck it up and pay the dealer?

I want to work than not, cuz it's really nice to have money. But when work tires me out to the point I don't want to do anything when I come home then the weekend is my the only time for me..... maybe this is building patience in me. Maybe the bike gods are mad at me.

Does anyone have any magic pixy dust I can put on the bike to make it work?

Well that's it, it just won't start? Need more input and maybe our mechanical guru's around here will step in...My first question would be, does it have other electronics like lights and such? Also I think this type of post would get better results in the "Technical/Mechanical Problems" section. PM. <>< :)

Quit the job. Ride world. Post up on ADV rider like a big dog. Have contributors send you money to continue your ride. Take lots of pix. Meet lots of new folks that are really nice and some not-so-nice-people too. Always post up. Create a Pay-Me PayPal account for easy money..

Dang, just gave away my secret plan...

I feel your pain. I work my kiester off to pay for farkles, give the bike to a reputable (certified) mechanic as a winter project bike, for money on the side. Since LAST October....he still has the bike and hasn't touched it! Damn....longer story can wait, but I feel your pain man. I'm exhausted every night, every month on call 24/7 for a week at a time. All I can think about is riding, and can't. I'm giving him 1 more week to get serious with my feejer or I'm hauling it down the mountain (he lives at the top of a small one) and riding her bareback stock... Thanks for the rant and hijack....back to you. Can people help get it going?

I feel your pain. I was doing maintenance on mine all winter, a little bit at a time at my liesure. What the hey, I have all winter, right? Well, the last thing I get around to doing is the valve check. OK, so now I need to buy a few shims. I measure up what I need, get the part numbers online, and drive down to my local Yammie dealer for parts. They must have shims, I mean they have a shop there where they do maintenance on people's bikes all the time. The guy looks up my parts, I reach for my wallet, and he says, 'OK, that'll be $28.00 ( close to that, anyway), and I'll have them in about a week. Damn! Now the sun is shining and the snow is finally melted to the point that I can get out the driveway, I have a nice new Olympia riding jacket to break in, but my workbench is cluttered with engine parts.

My seat is at Russell having the switch for the driver heat moved (long story).

I'm relying on this while I wait for the UPS truck to arrive later this week:

You can always take up masturbation. Hours of fun. Cheap and satisfying. Just another free tip from the dotster.

I go down the gun safe, pick out one of the 8 .45's I own, and go shoot things. Then I grab one of the other guns and shoot things. Repeat as needed.

I think I am going to start a 'Frosty the Snowman Season" for next year. You think a 12 ga. with say #4 would do a good job on a snowman?
