just back from a 9,200 mile wfo vacation...

my garmin 2610 is set to avoid main roads and give preference to minor roads... recalculating routes was a cinch... only tried to send me down 3 roads that were wrong (2 dirt roads and a one-way)... most of the mistakes were me not paying attention...

i did have a few aqusition issues, butt i feel they were errors caused by power surges from turning off the bike power that in-turn kills power to the garmin... when i'd shut the 2610 off, then the bike, i had no problems with the 2610...

garmin 2610 w/v.6 maps (all maps), most recent software, and 2gb sandisk card... i received the v.8 maps when i got home, and i found a 2gb sandisk ultra II for $49 after rebates at circuit city...

fwiw, the 2610 can now be had for +/- $460 usd, new...

Got a 2720 in March and am very happy w/ it. I used it w/out problem on a 5000 mile trip.

It does have it's quirks though. It has a tendency to get condensation on the inside of the screen under some conditions. It occasionally loses sat lock in some deep valleys in the mtns of TN and NC. And, I sometimes have problems "forcing" it to go on the roads I want instead of the roads the 2720 choses.

This is the first GPS I've had so I don't have any other reference point. Overall, I'm satisfied w/ the 2720.

Quest 2 here. I don't have the 'searching for sattelite' problem except when in tunnels (will have that with most, if not all, right?) and occasionally in NYC. Recalculates have never taken more than a few minutes, at most.
