I know we all probably have rode different bikes throughout our years.. I am curious, what is the fastest that you have even been on a motorcycle?

For me, 145mph last weekend on my R1

On public roads; i don't know the "Real Speed" but i have seen 178 on my 01 GSXR 1000 speedo & it was still going, so i ran out of shi# before the bike did.

On the race track, could be Brainard, MN or out at Willow Springs on a FZR 1000 in the early 90's 160/165 range.

145mph on an R1? Aim higher Forrest.

For me, FJR has provided the fastest two wheeled ride.

And for all you claiming *indicated* top speeds from your speedo, your claims are more than likely 5-10mph more than actual.

55. Anything faster wastes precious scarce resources, is incredibly unsafe, and contributes to Global Warming©.

Dunno... but I know it was more than 200mph... on an RC51. The police plane told me so. And just as I hit that mark, here comes Spyder blowing past me on his H.D. ;)

Sure it wasn't Bear? Ripper? Lonnie? Crash? Knuckles?
It was one of those overweight twins on a moped from the Guiness Book...

Yeah but Spyder doesn't care about top speed...he just likes "...to know that he's the fastest off the line..."

:D

Asking that question here is like asking "whats the biggest fish ya caught" on the Basstracker Forum. Sit back and let the ******** fly and be entertained. :D

Well, as motorcycle speedos are incredibly untrustworty I have absolutely no idea how fast I have been on a street bikes, but my guess would be in the 150-160 range on a number of different sleds over the years. Question about doing big top end numbers on the street as I get older is - Why?

OTOH, fastest I can 100% verify...

As per a radar gun on pit wall at Texas World Speedway, 161 MPH on a bad-*** 1047cc Kawasaki Z-1 based superbike back in 1980... And it wobbled almost as fast! Worst handling road racer I ever competed on. Fast, but scared the snot out of you everywhere with its flexi-flyer chassis...

Next best... 158 MPH, same radar gun, same track, riding my Honda CB-900-F based road racer. Didn't end up racing with that gearing, though, as it turned better lap times with gearing that had it pulling redline in 5th at 151-152 MPH. Came off the corners much harder with the shorter gearing, so that's what it raced with. This back when factory Superbikes were hitting 170 MPH at Daytona, so the speeds around TWS weren't too shabby considering neither bike was near as trick as a factory-backed Kawa or Honda.

You know...most of the riders today (exception being us old farts....who rode that junk) would kill themselves trying to ride an old stupid bike like that today  ....ah youth it's wasted on the young.... ;)
