So we had a big fire last weekend in the foothills. Some of my regular roads are bound to look a little different for a while. Anyway, between the heavy brush and the Phos-chek retardant, I had to get out of town!

On my way to my buddies gym Friday morning as the winds began to change and come in off the ocean.

The cloud stood straight up for a little while.

This just kills my sinuses so drastic measures were called for!

The air was much better here!

Besides when life gives you lemons...

It's time to go fishing!

My phone died after this so you'll have to trust me, we had a blast catching these guys.

We did have some weather come in. First some clouds, a little drizzle and then it even snowed!

but none the worse for wear we fished again in the morning. By the time we got home the weather had knocked down the fire and the worse was past.

Glad to do my part and keep the local roads clear for emergency vehicles!

Life is short. Take every advantage!

Looks like a good reason to get out. Not sure about the fishing part, but hey, whatever gets ya going, right?

I lived in Melbourne Florida during the fires in 98 and man did that suck. I recall days headed out to Merritt Island for work and I'd be on the bridge and the smoke was so thick I couldn't see the mainland or the island from the middle of the bridge. So much for not smoking cigarettes. Dealing with a couple of months of that is what I attribute some of my sinus issues to these days.

Of course, in Florida I couldn't get away to clean air quite like I see in your photos, beautiful scenery.

You sure have an odd looking dash and mirror on your FJR.

Stay safe out there in the land of burning hills and mudslides. (I only have to deal with an occasional hurricane.)

Richard - Nice pix and avoiding the smoke. Looked like 395 in the Mammoth area. Where did ya go fishing?
Thanks for sharing.
Hot Creek and the Lower Owens. Spent the night in Bishop. So beautiful up there and not very crowded. Most people had been there the previous weekend for opening day!
