One of the first annoying things that I found was the inability to open the glove box unless the bike is in neutral and the ignition is on.

This had to GO!

Not wanting to defeat or modify the lock mechanism, this is what I did to be able to open it without the key and with the bike in gear.

I added a hidden momentary switch that taps 12V off the fuse box to the solenoid that you hold while depressing the glove box latch to open it. It works great.

I tapped off the 10A fuse that's always hot (red/green) wire in the fuse box for the 12 volts.

Check out the pics if your interested.

Good idea,,, But,, a quick search...Glove Box
would have showed you the latch is basically useless and can be opened easily by anybody.
Sheesh, way to rain on his parade!!! ;)

I removed the lock mechanism, and don't worry about it not locking. Most people don't even notice the glove box is there, except for other FJR owners who I doubt will be stealing from my FJR...
