I have heard that for a new car, one shouldn't wax it for a month or so to allow for the paint to properly cure. Is this true for the Yamaha FJR? Anyone know? Anyone care?
I always wax my car and paint first thing after i getting it...make sure there is a nice protecting coat over the paint. Never had any problems, but i never thought about how that may affect paint hardening.I have heard that for a new car, one shouldn't wax it for a month or so to allow for the paint to properly cure. BOM?I use the BOM and not wax. I've never been a fan of wax. White crap in the nooks and crannies. Have to apply in the shade. Won't stay on long.... 'bout a month if that. Pain to apply and remove.... mostly.
Stuff that bonds with the 'paint'.... the clear coat... stays on. Can't be stripped or washed off. I only wash my cages and bikes with Simple Green (a jigger full mixed with ~3 gallons of aqua). SG won't strip polymers.... and don't think it'll strip wax. Dish detergent will strip wax, but not polymers... so I'm told.
The BOM is very EZ to apply, lasts long, no white crap left in the nooks, EZ off, too. A bottle lasts quite a long time as well. Couple years.
There are other products that work well, too. Everyone has a favorite product. I have a shelf 10 feet long and 18" deep with ALL KINDS of products for the surface of the vehicles, wheels, windscreens, tires, yada, yada.
You can BOM, wax, Zaino, Pledge, or whatever as soon as you take delivery. Most of the stuff will keep the bugs from sticking as well as they normally do. Plus, they make the Feejer shine, eh. :haha: Just do it often.

Read on the site for BOM can use on RV's. Anyone try this stuff on RV's yet? :detect:https://badtothebom.com/
Used it for some time. Zaino is better, but requires more step and is humidity unfriendly. Also, Zaino needs several trials and errors to get it right.... Otherwise it's a mess. But, the shine is the best of all.
I use the BOM products. I like 'em and they work for me.
No affiliation or stuff like that.

I don't know what BOM is, but I have found that Collinite's No. 885 Fleetwax (made for marine and aeronautical finishes) works the best and lasts the longest. It's designed for fiberglass boats - but works really really well, and lasts a really really long time (and no -- i don't get any $$ from them).Read on the site for BOM can use on RV's. 2 months, hell!!!Its probably been on the slow boat for the last 2 months anyway so I'm sure it has had plenty of time to cure. In typical fashion I will probably wax mine a few weeks after getting it and then once again a couple of days before I sell it....
