Have you ever encountered something where you can't quite figure out the chain of events that presents itself to you?

Today riding down I-405 as we went by Kirkland there's a 3-lane, relatively short, backup. We go by in the HOV lane. In the center lane is a U-haul closed trailer, just sitting there with no tow vehicle attached. There's no apparent damage and it's nicely aligned in the lane on its wheel and hitch. There's a budget van pulling out from the shoulder, appearing to being positioned to hook up with said trailer. Ah ha! I didn't hang around to see what ensued, but formulated a theory as to the fun I missed, probably several minutes earlier.

Yep. A few years ago, on a fine, clear, early Sunday morning, I was cruisin' along the lanes near the University of British Columbia. There was very little traffic at this time of day, and a few times I had the entire road to myself. As I motored along a boulevard divided stretch, two lanes each way, flat, no curves, I saw in the opposite lane, a van resting on its roof. I did a U-turn as soon as I could, and motored back to examine the thing. There was no apparent damage, no skid marks, and no one at all around. So I went and had coffee.
