Familiarity breaking down hesitancy is a basic of training. Try some very short rides to dinner or for an ice cream and then home. Nothing longer than about 15 minutes. When you're there, talk about anything other than the bike, so it's not the focus, and the pleasant parts of the ride are.

Good luck

Bob

Sell the bike, get a sports car.
I don't recommend extra-curricular "friends"....

NEVER, been dreaming of FJR since they came out. I felt like it was a good compromise. I gave up the dream of owning an RC51, she said it "looked to fast". The feej only cost me a puppy for her. I think i won that trade. Her friend is not really extra cirricular "friends". more like company that never leaves. Really just a pain in the ***. But she is easy on the eyes so i tolerate her being around.

Careful what you wish for. Can't look in the general direction of the FJR without the wife grabbing her gear and climbing on. Think I've put more miles on 2up than solo.

We all draw a different line when it comes to risk Vs reward. Don't push no matter how much you want her to ride with you & enjoy it. If something happened you would be full of guilt & regret. Find someone else to ride with. Don't neither give up your passion.

How about getting her to try dirt biking...maybe as she becomes comfortable with that she may warm up to street riding with you.

My wife loves it......(easy tiger!). If I sold the bike she would divorce me. I can get her to have a word if you like.
Same here! I think she likes to ride more than I do. I wanted to get her a Burgman, but she won't ride her own, just pillion! One day maybe!

Have you ever thought of turning the situation around and you be the pillion passenger. I for one would never consider ridding pillion with someone. Maybe she would be better with her own bike and in control of her own destiny

Just a thought.

My wife and I are both in health care and have spent to many hours in the Trauma bay.She cannot get past that and subsequently has never and will never ride with me.
I hear ya; the wife has been a Level 1 Trauma Center ER nurse for 15 years. No riding for her, and that's fine.
My wifes a cop and I am what the title says, we get to see it from the point of impact and don't use it as an excuse, just an extra pill of awareness. She hates it when I ride w/o her. She's letting me slide for a while for now, until I get my riding legs back that is. I hope they stay away from cars and crossing streets, too, at least that's my advice to the RN's that try that "dangerous" line on me, especially when it's another rider down. :p

Everyone has their "reasons" some make sense to us, some don't. Just don't forget this.......... It's their fear, not yours. Don't try to change them into what you want, it's not fair to them ,or you. When one part of a person is forced to change, the rest of them shifts to fill in the missing piece, and that isn't always a good thing.

My $.02, in peso's. ;)
