I mistakenly posted this item here. I have moved this to "Completely of Topic Discussion", because this issue is no "Joke". Pardon me if I offended anyone.

Best regards

I thought it was funny, and I agree that in hindsight it really was not a joke. I certainly was not offended by it. I agree that it is better placed in the "Off topic" section but I really liked it and enjoyed it. When I did that with drunk friends back in the day, there was always a scuffle. Strange that I never see those "friends" any more...

Even as a former LEO, I can say that while I understand the sentiment, and the seriousness of the issue, tossing the guys keys in the river was asshol-ish.

Why do we not want someone driving drunk? Simple, impaired judgement. So if we all agree that their judgement is impaired, how can we assume they have the proper judgement to make the decision to drive? So instead of tossing the keys why not get the guy a cab?

This is a reasonable response if the drunk is reasonable, some are not and are prepared to do almost anything within there capabilities to exercise their perceived right to drive and this includes hurting family and friends to get behind the wheel. Some of these are habitual drink drivers with never a concern for those around them. Next time I read or hear of some ass-hole who has exercised this perceived right to drive and killed some poor sole I will wish someone had thrown not only their keys but them as well into a river.
