Hi,

Does anyone know, or have contact with the admin of the forum at https://www.fjrowners.ws? I've tried to register and followed the instructions from the front page, but after a month or so, I've still not had my account activated. It says there will be a delay, but how long?

I'd send an email myself, but you have to sign in to make contact so it's catch-22. If anyone knows how long it normally takes, or could drop the admin a line asking, I'd appreciate it.

I just thought it likely that someone who is a member here, may also be a member of https://www.fjrowners.ws

Many thanks.

AArnie

FWIW, I see this at the other site:

Posted: Jooshead @ Thu Jan 11, 2007 4:22 pm Hi,

Due to the massive influx of SPAMMERS setting up accounts and posting porn I have had to instigate draconian measures.

I'm really sorry about the extra convenience but if you are a real person and would like to take part please do the following.

1. Register as normal.

2. Ignore all the e-mails you get because I am not activating accounts through the board system.

3. Please send me and e-mail to joosheadATfjrowners.cm with the following information. Copy and paste if you like.

Hi Joos,

I am a real person interested in FJR's and my user name is:

Please activate my account - I understand this may take a while as you are doing them all manually!

All the best.

Not a SPAMMER.
It is a sad state of affairs when all the boards have to institute these measures to keep the vermin out.

Thanks, but I've done this more than once. That's why I was wondering why it was taking so long. I've used more than 1 account as well in case it gets marked as spam somewhere along the way.

We've not had to do this. The method where we make new users post to a specific thread first and then open up the board to them has fooled the SPAMbots to date.

In all likelihood, Joos is prolly slammed with business at bikejohnny.com. If you PM me your specific .ws info, I'll send Joos an email as he'll recognize me as an old timer and maybe he'll snap too that way.

By the way, I mentioned this from the get go here, but shouldn't we link to .ws in kind? Just askin'.

Euro boards been running on auto pilot for some time. I'm not sure what Joooshead is up to lately. Your not the first to complain. Good luck !!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I've got no problem linking to them, but we don't have any non-forum pages for links as they do. There are plenty of links to fjrowners in various threads, though...

Maybe a pinned thread with helpful links...similar to the Bin-O-Facts perhaps? Just a thought. (A good one, as usual)

Sorry, but I don't remember you making that statement before, otherwise I wouldn't have asked again. Well, yeah, I guess I woulda, just because I'm me 'n ****. ;) And you do have a non-forum page: The Front Page. Dunno if you can put up links there or not, though.

Eh, never mind me. It's 700 out right now, my Itty-Bitty Six-Fiddy is outside and I'm stuck in the office until 5. So, I'm just a wee (get it? Wee?! ) bit cranky (cranky! - I'm killin' myself over here!) right now.

I wasn't implying it was you that asked before, just that it had been discussed.

I *could* put links up on the intro page, but would rather not. It's not meant to be anything more than a redirect for the main domain to dump into the forum.

Now, if you're interested in doing the legwork to develop a more comprehensive site on the front end, please let me know! :)

Yeah, I rode the beast to work today (most of the week actually). It gives me some of the most pitiful looks during the day...

If I had any kind of inkling as to how to write Geek, I sure as hell would ante-up and take it on. Alas, I skipped Geek 101, as the bong making class really rocked and my classmate, a smokin' (there I go again! ) redhead named Starshine, was way hot! Dig it, man? ;)

I'm in the same boat with you. I changed my profile on fjrowners to reflect my new e-mail address and was instructed through the auto-crap to reactivate my account. That was about a month or so ago. I've sent e-mails to jooshead and have also went through the bikejohnny site, bu there is no response. I get the idea that rangerray isn't welcome there anymore.

Joos is aware of it and trying to fix it, but he's obviously having a bit of trouble.

Per the instructions above, I think he thought that would fix it. Guess not.

I'll see if I can find out whats going on.
