So, what's Ophelia's last name? Maybe it's Buns... & her sister is named Lotta? Hahaha! JK around people. Uhhh, maybe her last name is Bush... yeah that's it!!! Her sister's name is still Lotta... the girl who doesn't believe in certain hygiene rituals. Hahaha!

Anyone concerned about this sizeable blow that doesn't want to go away? You Floridians & down south folks don't need to be concerned about your ride to Townsend. You've already gotten your share of beach erosion from this storm. Now, us up here east of you guys... we gotta' wonder whassuupp.

It is very rare when the Weather Channel doesn't give a prediction of where a storm may be headed.

What I can say for sure from a proud Norfolkian... if it blows through, I'm riding through! I had Ivan ruin my trip last year. No hurricane is ruining my trip this year. I hope that this isn't famous last words. Hahaha!

Hey Heidi... I've been watching Ophelia like a hawk. I'm current down in Florida visiting my folks, but have to run back to Virginny for a day, then back down to the EOM. Any way I look at it, it looks like I'm gonna be getting real wet somewhere along that trip. :(

I'm not too worried about Ophelia impacting the meet, as she's headed north is starting to fall apart a bit. She keeps bouncing back and forth between a category 1 and tropical storm though, so she could still be a bit nasty when she hits. Either way, someone's gonna be a bit misserable when she does head in to the shore, but I don't expect it to do too much in the way of damage.

Some of you "coasties" may want to consider the possibility of heading out a day earlier if possible, but it's still a bit too far away to be sure. Once she makes up her mind, that'll give everyone a better idea.

Ack! I'm rambling again... need more coffee! ;)

So, by leaving a day early you mean Thursday, right? That's me!!! Hopefully, I'm gettin' outta' dodge at o'darkthirty Thursday morning. Expecting to run into rain whether it's from Ophelia or not. How do I know this??? I washed my bike yesterday. Therefore rain is inevitable!

Hurricane three years in a row.

What is up with that ?

I washed my bike today also .

We need the rain here .

I plan to blast off Thursday ,wet ride or not.

If I had let the weather here stop me last year , I would have missed a verry nice weekend of riding.

Well, it is definitely looking like a few of us will be packing up and riding in the rain on Thursday.

That is definitely the bad news... the good news is we probably won't ride the entire day in rain.

It's still up in the air where Ophelia (Bush) will make landfall at this point but I'm not taking chances. I'm gathering up all lawn & garden items tonight & making sure that they get put up. I'd like to keep posession of my things & not donate them to my neighbor.

Here's to ridin' through folks (clink of glass) Jarvis... I'm with you!!! Wet or dry mister!!! We're going!

See you Friday,

Heidi

Has it occured to anyone to schedule the EOM rally for some time other than Hurricane Season?

No matter, I never let a little wind or rain get in the way of a good bike trip. My Dad and I will be hitting the road tomorrow afternoon. See you all there!

I don't ever remember ANY weather system just sitting and churning like Ophelia Bush. Any of you recall weather being that whacky, just sitting and spinning? How long has that thing been out there, like 10 days since Bermuda?

There's a couple cold fronts coming down from NW of me. Hopefully what's pushing down will keep miss O offshore so you kiddies on the right coast stay dry coming over to play. Anyone getting wet down there yet?

Not from the rain! Sky looking beautiful & it's fairly warm/cool out. Thinking I'm going to pack some warm clothes for the trip. I know how them thar mountains can be when you're up high!

Everytime I've packed warm clothes "just in case" I've ended up wearing them.

Yup, that's a good idea. 2 weeks ago when I was there, it was 60 at sun up, and it was 60 at the top of Cherohala mid morning. And there are TWO cold fronts coming down. We were supposed to have HIGHS here in Hoosierland in the 70's before the weekend, but it looks like it still might be 80ish. Lows of 50 overnight. Bet it's chilly in the AM, which is when I hope to get out and beat the maddening crowds on the most popular routes.

what's wrong with Ophelia bush when it's wet?? I thought that was the best time! :D Any how I too am leaving odark30 thursday morn will play chase vehicle for those riding their scoots. Just need to know a meeting place! Looking forward to meeting all the fine folks and doing some good riding. Peace!

No comment about Ophelia's sister Lotta'? Lotta Bush has a phobia of certain hygiene rituals. Hahaha!

Rick, I'm keeping original plans of riding out o'darkthirty Thursday morning, meeting William Powell & Sparky at the original place. We're going to eat lunch, Sparky's heading back home & William & I are on our way through Shady Valley & spending the night in Mountain City.

'Tis unkown if I'll see you around Asheville. I'm thinking by the time we get to Asheville on Friday you'll already be in Townsend.

We are thinking that it's gonna' be 3:00-4:00 for a Townsend arrival. I'll talk to you there, ok?
