Uh....Billy, boy....FUN is riding the Feej on the Cherohala Skyway or the Cabot Trail.

What the hell's the matter with you ? :dribble:

OK, seriously, I'm just jealous I don't ride a dirt bike. It does look like it could be fun.

IF you could actually ride the bike more than 25 yards without stopping to walk it, dig it out or pick it up :p

Keep on keepin' on, 'fitter ! :D

Nice off road riding video, Bill! Thanks for sharing this with us, much appreciated! Naturally, you don't ride dirt as well as Tucson Joe, Paolo and tu Papa Chuy Viejo do!!!

Best part of dirt biking is there are no speed police waiting to jump out an give you a ticket. The scenery is awesome. Been riding dirt bikes since I was a kid. :)

Thats funny stuff right there.......what the heck are you crawling around in the bush for? Did you lose a bolt or somethin?

Right now...being from Texas...I would love just to have a mud puddle!

Lets see...I think a I saw at least 3 katoomers, 1 berg and was that a Yammaha you were all piled up with on top of a bridge

Aha! Well done! I'm a newb to the off-road world and for whatever reason I decided to pick it up last year at 39(what was I thinking?). Trying to learn and absorb as much (useful) knowledge I can to get my skills up to par. I'm jealous of those who've been riding off-road since they were kids, I didn't have that. But, I'm trying to make up for it now!

It's related, so I don't think I'm high jacking the thread... since it is very soft, muddy and can't see through the puddle, would the recommended crossing be sitting or standing on the pegs?

That looks like fun! Reminds me of the many, many happy hours I've spent up in the woods with buddies. My last dirtbike was a '07 KTM 300 XC-W. Loved that bike but think I'd get an electric start 4-stroke if I were to go that way again. Like the license plates everyone's got. They've cracked down on that in Oregon. If it doesn't have the right VIN, they won't give you a plate anymore. Bummer. Thanks for sharing.

LOL - so tell again how them piggie 4-stroker's are better than a lighter 2 stroke?
Ahem.... if you look closely at the start of the video that is one of those 'lighter' 2-Strokes buried up to the gunnels in the mud. I rode right through that hole with not a care in the world due to the superior tractor factor of my feather weight WR450F 4-Stroke. I also exhibited superior line choice as compared to that mud puppy, Gary Klassen, something I am not normally known for. If there's a wrong line I'm usually the one taking it.

I would not still be riding dirt bikes if it were not for the magic button. My knees don't work well enough for kick starting plus I have the extra cheat of the Recluse clutch. I just sit there and twist that making sure I am pointed in the direction of intended travel before twisting that.

If I twist that before being pointed in the direction of intended travel it usually ends badly.

If there would have been a 2-Stroke Electric Start back a few yeas ago when Yamaha introduced the electric start WR I would have given the 2-Stroke a serious look. Once I got on 'Big Blue' I just never developed a taste for the orange kool-aid however. :p

If you believe the bottom of the hole is firm than the preferred method is to on the pegs since you have better control of the bike than sitting.

If you think the bottom is all crossed up logs and rocks than sitting down and using one foot as an outrigger should the bike get upset is advised.

What if it turns out different than you assume? Then what?

Make a video?

If you have no idea whats in the bottom of the hole..and you dont have any foolish friends around that will go first, My moto is "HAMMER IT"

Its worked about 50% of the time!

Careful there, these 'piggy 4 strokes' will put more traction to the ground than a stinky ol' 2 stroke can ever dream of. ;)

Please do note how eerily similar to a Q-tip this 6'-3" Goober looks (white tennies and white hair), so close to a Q-tip that all of Los Mexicanos Ninos called him Q-tip!

What would anyone from Texas know about crossing water. The only people crossing a river near Texas are the Mexicans crossing the Rio Grande.

I crossed the Rio Urique right in front of our Q-Tip with no issues and he still managed to make a dog's breakfast out of it.
