Long hours, fluorscent lights, swing shift, stress = 1 mighty migraine.

So happy I don't get the joy of M often.

I sure have empathy for those that do.

That is all.

:****:

Hugs n' Kisses Ya'll

Drugs!!! Lots and lots of drugs. :) :) :)

I don't get migrains but I live with chronic pain and it really sucks.

Hope you get a break soon Don.

That sucks Don, migraines are awful. Normally us guys rarely get migraines, but there are a lucky few... NOT.

I had migraines my whole life until recently. There were some known triggers and other times it was out of the blue. Bright light has often been a trigger, most people that know me have probably noticed that I always wear dark sunglasses and this is why. I had classic symptoms, first psychedelic like moving patterns in my sight for 15 minutes or so (much like moving kaleidoscope patterns), then the center of my sight would go away leaving just peripheral vision for another 10- 15 minutes, then I got a 30 minute symptom free time in which to find someplace to weather out the storm to come. Knowing what is about to happen sometimes caused mild panic attacks. Then my head starts to hurt, pound and throb and it continues to get worse and it also made me real sick. I am soooooo happy that it has been about 10 years since my last attack. This is dread man. Truly dread.

I've not had one - my son deals with them on a semi-frequent basis. Wish I could help him.

My sister gets them fairly often. She needs quiet time in a dark room, and very rarely she needs the ER and a shot of Demerol to get through it. I seem to get what are, in comparison, very mild migraines. I can feel it creeping up the back of my neck and once fully involved, I can't lay down or it hurts much worse. I wind up walking laps of my house, just trying to find some standing position that hurts less. I found that the OTC Excedrin migraine pills make very short work of these if caught early. I truly feel for those who are afflicted with more serious versions of migraines!

+1, Gunny; Mi Hermano Donaldo, Papa Chuy Viejo just sent you a brick of Oaxaca Gold, to the Diablo Canyon P, G & E mailing address in your name! JSNS!
Pfft, toss that brick o Mexican dirt weed right into the reactor Don, no sense wasting your time on stuff that won't work. I'll send you some good 'Ol 'Merican Nor Cal Humbolt happiness Purple Crush that will take care of any pain that comes your way.

Feel for ya brother, never had a migrain, but have scanned plenty who have.

Dayum...That sucks. I've only ever had a few. My last one was a couple years ago. I woke up not feeling well. I went to a school to look at some video from a case I was working. About the time the video spooled up, I got dizzy and the whole tunnel vision thing started. I left, saying I was going to have go back. I started driving home and had to stop twice to throw up...That never happened, but I don't know why. I got home, took a Vicodin from my knee surgery and went to bed. I slept for 11 hours and woke up feeling up way better.

No idea what triggers those *******s, but that last one was the worst. Thank God I don't have them on a regular basis...I know why people say they make them miserable. Holy ****...I feel bad for anyone that suffers through them.

My brother has had migraines since he was 16 or 17 years old. They make his life pretty miserable.

Five years ago, the college put the lights in his office on a dimmer switch. He said that made a world of difference for him.

I feel for you. I've only had one and that was enough. I was driving home from work on a sunny day and it started. By the time I passed by my doctors office it felt like someone had buried a tomahawk between my eyes. Huge pain, blurry vision etc. The dr gave me some samples he had in his office of a drug called Mersyndol...it's laced with muscle relaxants, codeine and acetaminophen. He told me to take 2 pills when I got home and go to bed. It completely knocked me out. Woke up 12 hours later and the headache was gone, never to return - I hope!

Yes, but your problem was obvious. A head as ugly as yours should hurt. It hurts us when we see pictures of it, having to wear a head that ugly should have you in perpetual agony.

I consider myself SO lucky...I've never had a migraine. In truth, maybe only 2 headaches in my entiere 62 years, and those were attributable to hitting my head on something, like a cabinet shelf or such..

Never had heartburn either. Don't know what it is, and don't want to find out. My deceased brother had heartburn from about the day he entered puberty. He just about lived on baking soday and Rolaids. NO THANKS!!

I'm not a doctor, but I'd like to help. There are a few things that I have learned:

Migraines are not necessarily a pain in the head.

With or without pain:

you can lose part or all of your vision, and it may be slow to return to normal.

A wavy shimmer may surround objects that you see.

You may "hear" loud sounds which do not exist, really.

You may "smell" odors which do not exist.

You may "taste" things which you did not eat.

The wrong frequencies can trigger a migraine, or make it worse.

Repetitive sounds (a fan, certain music, or a motor) can do it.

Flickering (especially fluorescent) lights can do it.

Heavy exposure to certain chemicals can do it,

which may be found in uncured epoxies or uncured polyester resins, or even gasoline.

There are probably a lot of chemicals that may cause migraines, or just certain combinations.

After a person is sensitized, even a tiny exposure to that chemical can do it.

Once a person is sensitized to any one chemical, related chemicals can become a problem, also.

If lying down is not comfortable, get rest in a recliner chair,

set as upright as may be needed. Use pillows also, if that helps.

Not all causes of migraine are known. Keep track of your environment with a notebook,

when a migraine happens, and soon you may be able to identify the cause for yourself.

The cause may be a room (chemicals), frequencies (lights), or just stress.

Leave that place, and see if things get better when you do. Don't try to "tough it out" there.

Fresh air may be most helpful, if chemicals caused the migraine. Cover the eyes, if sunlight is painful.

Best wishes.

Well for Howie it's obvious. Where there is no sense there is no feeling

I am beginning to strongly suspect you are correct. I believe the exact location may be further south and behind me.

With or without pain:

Yes, the sight of my wife is actually blurring my vision.

You may "hear" loud sounds which do not exist, really.

No, she really is yelling at me.

You may "smell" odors which do not exist.

You may "taste" things which you did not eat.

You mean like food in the kitchen that she actually cooked?

The wrong frequencies can trigger a migraine, or make it worse.

Repetitive sounds (a fan, certain music, a motor, or your wife fussing and bitching constantly) can do it.

Heavy exposure to certain chemicals can do it,

which may be found in uncured epoxies or uncured polyester resins, gasoline, or your wife's hideous perfume.

Not all causes of migraine are known. Keep track of everything she does with a notebook.

The cause may be a room (chemicals), frequencies (lights), just stress, but is most likely marriage.

Leave that place, and see if things get better when you do. Don't try to "tough it out" there.

I cannot afford to she has already taken all of my money and most of my will to live.

Divorce may be most helpful, if you know she caused the migraine. Cover the eyes, if seeing her is painful.

Best wishes.
I know you posted this to sincerely help and it is wrong of me to use this for my twisted sense of humor. Sorry. But it all just seemed to fit my situation so perfectly.

Wow! That's has to be a *****. I'm lucky. Never had one but, my sweetie gets then often. She has to lay down in bed in the dark. A moist towel across the forehead helps. It's painful to watch. You fell helpless knowing there's nothing you can do.
