I was enjoying a very comfortable evening in Orangevale on my back porch, a glass of Scotch and conversation with my wife when Spot, one of my cats, mewed for attention. I knew he had caught something. Guess what!

He was so proud of himself; he brought home dinner for the family! I figured he deserved some web time for it and that some of you might be as weird as me and think it's cool.

You have to wonder how he sneaks up on birds...

Good thing Spot isn't a retriever. That's grounds for a "Dog For Sale" sign in a hunting dog... not the bringing it to you part, but hard mouth/eating the kill....

Our dog Bonnie looked on with interest, but didn't bother the cat

Bonnie looks similar to my Katie. A small shepard. She will take, birds (oh yea, the Indian neighbors used to have a pet dove  ) chipmonks, bees (don't understand that one). and loves lasers and sprinklers. not bad for a 9 yo.

Yep, Bonnie is a Sheppard/Rotweiler hybrid...but only 75 pounds!

She is the best dog I've ever had.

I believe the pet of choice for this group should be a Scottish Deerhound. A courageous dog that was favored by Scottish Chieftains and Royalty which showed exceptional prowess in hunting deer - stag hunting. Keenness, great speed, and endurance make him formidable in the field

Go get 'em!

Man TWN, is that damn bird still bothering you? Want to rent my Terminator? He's a Norwegian Forrest Cat, built to chase and terminate critters in trees.:

Dove :rip_1:

Panther, catamount, wampuscat! Legendary felines of the backcountry.

Oval yer gonna take some heat for this from the Friends of Fowl!

Uh, what’s up with the dog that he doesn’t want to …play…with the kitty behind him? :lazy: :blind:

Here's my pride and joy, Pip the wonder dog, Fox Terrier/Rat Terrier mix:

She does stunt frisbee and climbs rocks like a goat. She can climb trees if they have rough bark and they're at a slant. Funnest dog I ever had and I never even had to train her. She just naturally catches frisbees while doing back flips  She's fascinated with birds. Not that she want's to kill 'em, she just wants to be one.

Bonnie has 6 cats. She protects them from other cats and dogs. She thinks of them as her pack, but I'm the Alfa and I was taking the pic. Typically, if I'm around, she's paying attention to me. I've never had a dog so desirous of doing what she's told to do. The cats and the dog often hunt as a pack. BS? Nope...I've seen it 4 times now. The best is when the cats cut off escape routes in the Willow and force the squirrel down to Bonnie. I've seen that trick twice now and when Bonnie puts the bite on the squirrel, the cats some and steal her catch and Bonnie just lets them and looks on proudly.

Okay, yeah, I'm attributing human emotions to animals. If you don't get it, you just don't.

I had a woodpecker that wouldn't stop Fawking with the house. I nailed it. I gave it to my Husky Bell Star and she left nothing but feathers. Another Husky male caught a phasant and was trying to swallow it whole. The wife was in a contest to prevent it. TJ

A few years back my daughters had a calico mama cat with a kinky tail that was the terror of the birds on our property. I once saw a mocking bird dive bomb her in the front yard one time and a few minutes later the cat had that bird, but that wasn't enough for her. She went up the tree and by the end of the day the mocking birds mate and chicks were all killed and the nest on the ground. I liked that cat. If I had one of her offspring I would send it off to TWN.

Yeah, the ******'s still out there. Quieted down for a while, but now he's up at 3:30 or so, singing me his love songs. At least the Jays have left.

I wish I could have done the same for our dog Taz, the one thing I could never give her which she wanted most of all was one of those damn squirrels, if she coulda just gotten one before she died I'd be happy!!

Cool pix. I showed them to the lump of yellow fur that lies between my keyboard and screen. He opened half an eye then went back to sleep. At our house, killing is for the girl-cats. The boys sleep, watch the action then go back to sleep.
