And what is the next best thing? Why no payments on course! :) I just paid my dealer the last little bit I owed on my FJR, so when it does get here later this month I will be able to sign the papers and drive away with the title.. :)

So let's hope it is THIS month...

and NOT July!! :D
Wheaton,

That's cold, very cold. But quite possible true. :haha: Just don't say that to my wife, I called her today at work for something else and she asked if there were any calls from the dealer yet on her 06.

Grnarrowe

My view - no bikie, no cashie. :assasin: PM. <><

Thats the way to do it! I did that on my '05 too. Great feeling to know that it is your own bike. :D

 Yeah - no offense - but paying the entire amount of your ride to the dealer BEFORE you take delivery -- Hmmmmm -- not my style!

I agree I would not do it with any dealer, nut I have purchased probably 8 motorcycles from him over the past year or so.. The owner and I knoe each other pretty well. Yes, I agree it is risky with him having the money and no bike, but I trust him, and if I had all the money still sitting in the bank all I would do would be think up ways to spend it on something else.

Guess it all comes down to trust

At least you would be making the interest on your money vs. him though!
But Mikey,

you're speaking to Dr. Hixson. He don't need no stinking money...he's gots all he needs! :D

Oh, BTW doc. I meant no offense or rudeness or coldness by my earlier post. Obviously you know and trust the guy. That wasn't info we were privy to at the start...okay enough sucking up. :D

Now see Doc, I got a pain right about here... :haha:

Oh yea... I dont know is this is true for every dealer or not, but atleast when my dealer ordered my FJR back in October, Yamaha invoiced him the full amount in October too. If this stands true across the board, that means there are a lot of dealers that have ordered several FJR's, that are out a wad of cash.

Speaking of which, I wonder just how profitable cycle dealerships are...

I'd doubt ANY would be out a wad of cash...

Unless they're Bill Gates, Donald Trump, or a combo Harley/Yammi dealer with buttloads of cash floating about, the typical dealer is floorplanning his inventory.

Chances are, with 4th quarter sales traditionally better than 1-3, those PDP'd uniits are prolly already paid for.

At least that's what a "smart" dealer would do if he's being invoiced before delivery.

Plus --- I see ur Superman - so what the hell.

I doubt VERY SERIOUSLY that the dealer (any dealer) was invoiced for a bike 5 months before it ships. I'm in the car business and the dealer is invoiced when the vehicle is shipped to the dealer, with a 30 day float on floor plan. The dealer thne pays the bank for the vehcile when it is sold. I doubt if the cycle business is any (to any large degree) different. NO WAY - it was invoiced 5 - 6 months before shipping. Guarentee he isn't going to let Yamaha make the interest on his 12 G's like he did on yours! (no disrespect intended)
