Bought a pass for a up coming rally and was wondering..... On my Gen II bike with a dash shelf the best place to mount it?? Can I put it flat on the dash, or should it be at a more vertical angle?? In the instructions it said to make sure it is 1" away from the windshield frame of a car. Didn't know if mounting it on my metal dash shelf would be a problem. I know you IBR guys have them, where do you mount, and do there always read the toll?

Thanks Smitty

When in toll-road territory I keep mine velcro'd to the top of my tank bag, on the map window. Since my time spent on toll roads is minimal, it spends 99% of its life inside the tankbag. When I'm a toll road, I grab it from inside and stick it on top.

I used the supplied dual lock and put it vertically on the inside of the windshield just above the w-bracket when heading east. It's read every single time this way for me even if it's accumulated a fair amount of road splooge.

When I'm not using it (which pretty much is whenever I don't suddenly drop by your house) I leave it in my glove compartment.

I've seen people mount horizontally on the glove box before, but not sure how consistent it is in reading. If it missed my understanding is they just revert to your plate and process manually. The key is having a valid EZ Pass tied to a plate.

I have a Recon 19 tank bag, I-Pass lives in the pocket on the front of the bag, works just fine there.

Don't know about the I-pass technology and how it compares to the Fastrak pass here in the SF Bay Area.

I carry mine in my jacket liner pocket and my wife carries hers in her Vstar1300 tank bra. Both work just fine. As Iggy pointed out, the key is to have the pass and bike / car "tied" together in the same account. They will go picture mode if it doesn't read.

I did the same. I leave mine on there all the time and commute across a toll bridge with it at least once a week. No problem. I used to take it off and store it when not needed, but those industrial velcro strips it comes with wear out after a lot of uses and it got loose on me. Since I have left it alone it has not loosened.

In NY, if you order an ez-pass tag especially for your motorcycle it comes with a big 'M' on the front and it gets you discounted tolls.

It's a little hard to see Smitty, but that's an EZPass dual locked to the front vertical of a N/U Line dash. Never failed to read during the IBR or RWYB rallies and stayed put during some pretty damned hard rain.

Tank bag under my maps. Never failed to read from Maine to Chicago.

Well there was that toll in Indiana that won't take the Massachusetts ez pass, it wasn't me that broke that gate!
