I was just reading about the midget lady who is blaiming the FJR for her stalling it, tipping it over, etc. Haha.
Anyways, Just wanted to start a nonesense thread about how hard I ride my bike and see if there is anybody else out there who does so. I've been riding on the street for 12 years and this is my 5th bike. Have had it for two years and came from a Bandit 1200. Do most of my riding 2 up with wife and the FJR can do pretty much everything just as well 2 up as it does solo. It doesn't care how much weight I put on it or in the bags to include top case.
The only group I ride with in my new area of TX is a group of 15-20 sportbikes each Sunday, including some oddballs like a B-King and zx-14. The Club - "corrupted speed" they call themselves - full of stunt bikers, is a bit crazy but they've all become in awe of the FJR over the last few months I've been riding with them. I am a good rider, most of them suck haha (20yr olds...), but there are a few good riders on their supersports. But I stay with or often leave all of them behind when we hit the curvy roads, always get a few guys coming up to see if I scratched the side bags on the corners and asking what type of bike it is, etc. Most of them seem afraid to talk to me after we ride, because the guys that haven't ridden with me usually laugh and point when I show up for the Sunday gathering ride, not expecting to get embarrassed by the big bike. I now enjoy leaving the side bags for additional effect.
As far as speed my bike stays with the 600s just fine as we do many many competitive roll-ons, and the FJR stays nose to nose with the 636s, and pulls on some of the other 600s a bit. It also pulls even with the BKing which is very surprising to me, and I seem to always pass him around the 125-130ish point and the FJR tops out about 5mph more(160) than he can get his BKing up to. That thing suffers from bad aeros.
Only downside about the FJR is it tends to wallow a bit in 100mph sweepers, but it's understanding as I am pushing it pretty hard then. Other than that, the FJR really holds a line real nice and I think it's really flickable if you're physically willing to jump around from side to side with it.
I just really enjoy this bike and thought I'd share with some other FJR riders. Not on here much but I do stop in from time to time.
