I was just reading about the midget lady who is blaiming the FJR for her stalling it, tipping it over, etc. Haha.

Anyways, Just wanted to start a nonesense thread about how hard I ride my bike and see if there is anybody else out there who does so. I've been riding on the street for 12 years and this is my 5th bike. Have had it for two years and came from a Bandit 1200. Do most of my riding 2 up with wife and the FJR can do pretty much everything just as well 2 up as it does solo. It doesn't care how much weight I put on it or in the bags to include top case.

The only group I ride with in my new area of TX is a group of 15-20 sportbikes each Sunday, including some oddballs like a B-King and zx-14. The Club - "corrupted speed" they call themselves - full of stunt bikers, is a bit crazy but they've all become in awe of the FJR over the last few months I've been riding with them. I am a good rider, most of them suck haha (20yr olds...), but there are a few good riders on their supersports. But I stay with or often leave all of them behind when we hit the curvy roads, always get a few guys coming up to see if I scratched the side bags on the corners and asking what type of bike it is, etc. Most of them seem afraid to talk to me after we ride, because the guys that haven't ridden with me usually laugh and point when I show up for the Sunday gathering ride, not expecting to get embarrassed by the big bike. I now enjoy leaving the side bags for additional effect.

As far as speed my bike stays with the 600s just fine as we do many many competitive roll-ons, and the FJR stays nose to nose with the 636s, and pulls on some of the other 600s a bit. It also pulls even with the BKing which is very surprising to me, and I seem to always pass him around the 125-130ish point and the FJR tops out about 5mph more(160) than he can get his BKing up to. That thing suffers from bad aeros.

Only downside about the FJR is it tends to wallow a bit in 100mph sweepers, but it's understanding as I am pushing it pretty hard then. Other than that, the FJR really holds a line real nice and I think it's really flickable if you're physically willing to jump around from side to side with it.

I just really enjoy this bike and thought I'd share with some other FJR riders. Not on here much but I do stop in from time to time.

ok...I'll bite.

The FJR will run well in the twisties for a touring bike. It certainly can take you around corners fast enough to get you put in jail. However, a sport bike it is not. Given equivalent riders, the 600 and up sport bikes will check out on the fjr. It is just to heavy and not geared and suspended for speed like a sport bike.

It sure is fun to run off from the cruisers though!

I luv this forum.

ride the shit out of it,hell yeah,am 65 yrs old and have had two blackbirds, and went 180 on both of them many times,I know what fast is ! had my 09 up to 150 mph and still had some left.

I ride with old guys who haul ass,I'am the slow one.we've made belivers out of a lot of young sportbike riders, the fjr is no slug by any means,my buddies have busa's and blackbirds and cbr1000's,you can stuff that baby into any turn and she'll rail it.

but this is just a crazey old coot ranting.

yeah that's what I'm talking about. I'm 27 and I plan on being an even better rider when I'm 65. Only one guy can leave me in the tight turns, he's on an R6 and always wears his racing leathers and is rubbing his knees as my damn pegs start to scrape hard - usually don't like to push it that hard on the street, but it happens if I am confident in road conditions.

The ZX14 often rides with a passenger (and the driver is 300lbs) and he is able to pass me still when I'm doing 150, so I know there's a lot faster bikes out there, but the FJR isn't far behind in the real world.

I still want a Blackbird, but not sure if it's worth it since I have the FJR. They're different but similar at the same time.

Man this is great my turn..... The Fjr can keep up with many sport bikes in cayons or straight aways... I have video to prove it can..

AS for speed... Sit down guys.. my stock Busa will smoke most sport bikes out there on straight aways &

Will blow most guys in twisties sweepers... Heavy yes. learn to shift your weight and learn how to ride. But then again why ride like that

I got to be at work Monday so why risk going down.... :good:

Jdog

Over in the dirt bike world a lot of the 50+ crowd are really fast once you get off the track and onto the trails.

Not me though, I carom from tree to tree.

Yes, I ride the shit out of my FJR. But, I have proof, just sayin'..

I had a nasty accident 10 years ago when I was a teenager. Was trying to show off on my Honda V65 just a few months after upgrading from a Nighthawk 250 (laugh laugh).

Luckily I walked away, but I don't regret the accident. I always put safety first if I have doubts.

OK, once at a red light in town, a kid on an R1 pulls up next to me and in the interlude of waiting out the green light, we look at each other and nod.

He flips up his visor and says " nice bike!". Blip!

Thanks I say back. Blip!

He next says "want to race for pink slips?"

I said " can I pick the course?"

He says " OK, where to?"

I say "from right here to Seattle".

He beat me off the light, and I never saw him again. :yahoo:

I dunno?!?!?!

I guess I'm getting older or wiser. I tend to ride on the "safe and sane" side of the equation. That's just me and my own particular mental blocks. YMMV
