:yahoo: Oh, dear me - my muscles haven't been this sore since I can't remember when! (For those that don't know me - I have had a painful lower back problem for over 4 years and recently got treatment for it. So, my limited activity due to pain during those 4+ years have left me terribly unfit.)

I never thought I'd say: "I have riden a motorcycle and survived", but here I am! :) I was completely content to be pillion on our Blue Belle while Andrew got us from point A to point B and all the wonderful places in between.... but somehow, one night, in a moment of weakness, I consented to take the MSF training and Andrew hopped on the computer faster than light speed and signed me up before I could reconsider! (Damn he has the cutest smile and most convincing demeanor!)

Honestly, though, I have to say - WOW! I overcame a HUGE personal fear and I learned SO much! I am happy to have accomplished this and while I certainly don't consider myself an accomplished rider - at least now I can say I understand a motorcycle (to some degree). More practice is certainly needed (after the muscles aren't so sore and IF I have a motorcycle to practice on that fits my height).

The instructors were incredibly patient and helpful and I can't say enough about them and the fellow classmates who never laughed at each other and were very supportive of all (truly, that wasn't a surprise considering all the motorcyclists we have met and come to know. I haven't ever experienced a nicer group of humans in my life!)

So, I guess, I am posting this just to say "HEY! Holy CRAP! I didn't hurt myself (aside from the sore muscles), the bike or any other person during this training and really find that I am happy to have taken on this challenge!" Whether I ride again or not, I definitely have new perspective on motorcycle riding.

Ok, I think I'm done now... :yahoo: WOOT! I did it and I don't think anyone is more surprised than I am! heh

So while Andrew's out working you could probably practice with his FJR....Just think how Great that would be..

There's two problems with that plan:

1.) Andrew works from home.

2.) I'm too short to safely ride our beautiful FJR baby.

Also, there's the fact that they trained us on Kawasaki Elimanator 125's..... I mean, beside the obvious height difference, is there anything I should look out for when sneaking the FJR out for a solo ride when Andrew isn't looking?

Dave, my friend, you know what I mean by sore muscles that have been under-used! You have been a great inspiration and support for my healing! Thanks so much for all your input! I really never thought I'd ride a motorcycle and think it was fun (and not terrifying!)! But when the instructor handed me my card indicating that I passed, he said "Young lady, that was an awesome ride around the curve!" Heh! Who'd have thought? Put the girl on two wheels and let'er go!

See ya on the road!

Oh yes my dear.

You need be vawwy kafool of dat wily wittle wascal called twowheelnut. Rumor has it that he like's to dress up in chaps and nothing else, grab a couple of his gerbil pals, and ride "*****" all the while singing "Y....M....C....A....." Of course his preference his big hairy tattoed "real men", but you never know. My advice is to stay well clear of him. :D

Congratulations Sherri! That is a great accomplishment. I hope you had fun in the class, even though it is a lot of work. Even if you never ride yourself, it will give you a better understanding and appreciation for the task. Now get out there and find a ride and get some experience and have fun.

Congrats!!!!

I also completed a MSF today, I wanted to refresh my skills. I say the FJR is much easier to drive then the little 125 I was on in the MSF. The bikes at the MSF I took do not see the open road ever, and get a good build up on the sparks plugs. This made it difficult for many of us. A lot of gas was needed to prevent the bike from stalling.

Don’t be scared to get your own bike, it will be much easier to drive then the small 125 bike you were riding. I am not saying go out and get a 1000cc or larger bike, but I really would consider getting a 500 – 750 or so which is comfortable for your back.

Congratulations again!!!

Thanks! I actually did have fun in class! I do think that I will ride myself at some point, because, why go through all the sore muscles if not? :-D Besides, Andrew and I have already been looking at bikes that will fit my height... :) My first requirement is that it not be new and not too powerful.... oh, and it can't be a Suzuki Eliminator! LOL Even that thing was too short for me! Next step: PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE!

Thanks again!
