So, carver's got a purse and ****s???
SURPRISE
Mike-H and donaldb, That damn dcarver always has to outdo his Papa Chuy Viejo, what a showboat! Here he posts up with a purse and ****s and all I have got is a "man bag" on my gas tank.

Don Carver stop your bragging, Pirates Forever! By the way, ATGNTT!

Shauna is gonna kick your "man bag" around the block. The purse may be Don's but not the ****s.

Funny the lack of "real riders" out here most of the year when us FJR riders are atop our mounts year round. I don't even see them under overpasses like they are fabled to be.

I wonder how many threads on the Harley Forums focus on how much better they are than FJR riders, or Sport Tourers in general.

Knowing the answer is, "Very few," I wonder who is the group with the most ***** envy.

If you don't like Harley riders, or have such strong opinions, why deliberately go to where they congregate to get a t-shirt that will identify you as "one of them?"

I know of many garage queen FJR Owners as evidenced by some low mileage FJRs for sale on this forum. I also know some HD owners that ride the **** out of their bikes.

So...as said before...WHAT you ride doesn't make who you are...unless you believe the advertising.

Again, courtesy to those around you, not acting like a ******* and blocking people who want to ride at a faster pace than you happen to be riding...that's what I get worked up about. Not what emblem you have on your gas tank.

 ...they think all ST riders are Gay so it doesn't even register with them.

Harley Davidson has & will always be a lightning rod topic...kind of like Tim Tebow. You either love him or you hate him, there is no real middle ground or 3rd option it would seem.

Put the word "Harley" in the title of any thread and it will be a multi-page opinion fest...or get shut down by the forum mods. :p

Hater trolls gotta have SOMEthing to come onto the neenerwebs and display how much sand is crammed in their moaning manginas, 'Zilla.

There's a guy here at work, about 2 years ago he asked me for advice on a good starter bike. I gave him the 10 minute elevator speech for sport touring, but it really depends. What kind of riding do you want to do? track days? commute? park and polish? What is it that you want?

He said he liked my bike, read my blog about rallies and trips and thought that looked like fun, but thought the FJR was too big for a starters bike.

I agreed, and sent him links and a list, FZ6, Kawi Versus, lots of other good starter options out there for complete n00bs.

Then he shows up with Harley 1200 Sportster, shortly after with the matching leather jacket, boots, gloves, beanie, etc. He even has a Harley branded laptop case. He's gone complete pirate. Doesn't wear his beanie because you know, helmets can be unsafe and all that and he loves his loud pipes.

I will give him credit though he does commute, quite often, and even in bad weather and on occasion on days when I've elected not too. He's ridden in sub freezing temperatures and in the rain. It's about a 10 mile commute for him. So there is that. He's committed.

I think his longest day so far has been around ~100 miles, and I'll likely ride more miles on memorial day weekend than he will all year. But I do give him credit for actually riding, er at least riding consistently if even not very far.

It is sad though that we lost one to the dark side :/

Then he shows up with Harley 1200 Sportster...
Does he know that some in the HD world consider the Sportster a girl's bike?

No...don't tell him.

Kudos to him for being a regular rider...if not a distance rider.

You must have a lousy sales pitch there Matt...converting him from an FJR to a Sportster ;)

Uh Wheatie, do you happen to know who the Gentleman riding this 1966 H-D Sportster is? His name happens to be Ralph Barger, also called "Sonny" by the Oakland Chapter of the Hells Angels he founded and by thousands of the Red and White Worldwide. I bought my Harley parts from Sonny's shop up in Cave Creek, Arizona; Sonny said he always preferred Sportsters over Big Twins, said he still does! So next time that I see Sonny I will make damn sure I tell him that you called him a girl! Or you can go by his shop at 10637 N. Cave Creek Rd. in Phoenix and call him a girl yourself!

Yes. I am a dead man. And so is everyone here that knocks HDs. We're done for.

Or not.

Well, we're all done for...just maybe not by Sonny.

I am waiting for you...remember, I have cats.
Be afraid, Don. Be very afraid...

You don't see me provoking Wheatie and his cats after he made his feline threat to me, do you? I live with a psychotic tabby cat named Gary myself, Bear the Labrador Retriever and Papa Chuy give Gary a really wide berth!

Funny I know a lot of hd riders and most are clean cut and very nice. I also have been to some of these dealer events and have never felt uncomfortable.

One hardcore hd rider i know says if you want to ride buy a metric but if you like to work on your bike buy a harley. Also most harley riders (not all) i see in this area wave at me when we pass. When i rode to the dragon a couple of years ago on my fjr a lot of harley riders would stop and talk to me at rest stops and overlook. RIDE WHAT YOU LIKE AND TREAT THOSE THAT DON'T RIDE WHAT YOU LIKE WITH RESPECT.
Yep! Gunny! Amen!

This topic comes up now and again. C'mon, it's near the end of Winter and most motorcycle owners have been couped up. Now they're feeling their oats and their pride of ownership. It's be a huge mistake to think that all dealers or owners mirror what yo've experienced this one time and one event.

I've found that on the open road, traveling the Western states that riders of all makes aren't as tribal, except the "for motorcycles-against cages" tribe. The 2-wheeled travelers I've met, regardless of style or make, have been cordial, inviting, willing to share past adventures or information about great roads.

YMMV.

I have been riding for allot of years and have ridden cruisers and sport bikes. My best friend rides a harley but respects other riders. He as always said simply "Riders Ride". when it's 20 degrees out and I ride past another person on a bike, I waive no matter what he or she is riding.

Why? Because as a graduate of their Rider's Edge program, at that dealer, I got an email offering a free t-shirt and a hot sammich.
