Sorry. I feel like it's time for me to confess. I'm sorry to say to you all, but the FJR for me turned out to be an "inbetween" bike. I went from cruiser to standard to FJR, and realize now that I LOVE cruising and commuting in comfort, year round. And I was stupid and found someone who would let me test-ride their goldwing for about 300 miles.

I was amazed. There I was, at the ripe old age of 26 (two years ago) and I came back with a HUGE grin. SUPER comfy, the heated seat and grips worked great on December 24th in texas, and when I hit a twisty the thing surprised the heck outta me with some GREAT maneuverability. (I MAY have more than doubled the recommended speed around a curve or two.....smart on some other guys goldwing? no. But he recommended I "let her loose" and it was WORTH IT!)

So thinking about the riding I do, wife and I taking multi-hundred mile trips, commuting back and forth to work, and it being my ONLY mode of transportation for 6 months and counting, I've come to the realization that the FJR that was going to be my ride-it-till-it-dies bike is now resolved to ride-it-till-I-can-afford-a-Goldwing bike.

Sorry. I just feel almost GUILTY browsing these boards knowing that in a year or two I'm going to migrate over to the goldwing forums. Felt like I needed to make a confession.

Now I'm off to say some Hail Mary's....

For the most part everything you said about the Gold Wing is true.

A Gold Wing was my only ride for almost 13 years. Ultimately, I sold it

because I felt I was too young for a Gold Wing.

That, and because Gold Wing owners were the biggest bunch of

elitist pricks I'd ever met, is why I now ride an FJR. :****:

I had an ST1300, then a GL for two up, and I had it turned into a nice sport tourer. It's great for two up and long distance, no question. But single again and then back to a lighter sport tourer, sat on the Feej and noticed how light it was and not as top heavy as the ST.

Been there, done that, and will probably never go back....but the GL1800 is very good for riding 2-up, just be prepared to sent Traxxion a pretty good sized check to fix the Wing's crappy suspension.

Ha, don't listen to the old nay sayers. If you like the bike, that's all that really matters. I've rented a wing a couple times and had a blast. Those heated grips and seat are real nice for a Sunday morning 40 degree romp along the Mississippi a couple years back after CFO. If my wife wasn't so busy with her horse and wanted to ride long distance more I'd own one.

I figure if I only rent one every year or two it's cheaper to just to fly and rent.

Here's the silver beauty along Lake Michigan, handles quite well in the sand.

Don't get me wrong I also really like riding my FZ1 for the local twisty stuff and it would be hard to give up the triple digit speeds of the Feejeer for getting across the wide open spaces.

Just bought my second Wing after my old GL1200 was trashed by Bambi. I'll keep the FJR and all of my older bikes as well; I'm a firm believer that a person can't have too many bikes. They are all different and I enjoy them all.

So don't YOU be one a'those.

And for God's sake, WAVE at the FJRs.
AND...

1.) You can still visit this site. Obviously there are 'Wingabago owners and afficvianados here.

2.) You can still ride with FJR owners. We (mostly) aren't so narrow minded.

Two new 2010 Stage II 'Wings for sale at Cycle shack North, price dropped from $26,000 to $21,000. One of the non-sales guys said you could probably pick one up for $18,000 if you walked in with cash.

No affiliation, etc., just thought I'd throw it in to torment you!!

It's okay. It's not your fault:

Mental disorders are common in the United States and internationally. An estimated 26.2 percent of Americans ages 18 and older — about one in four adults — suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year.1 When applied to the 2004 U.S. Census residential population estimate for ages 18 and older, this figure translates to 57.7 million people.2 Even though mental disorders are widespread in the population, the main burden of illness is concentrated in a much smaller proportion — about 6 percent, or 1 in 17 — who suffer from a serious mental illness.1 In addition, mental disorders are the leading cause of disability in the U.S. and Canada.3 Many people suffer from more than one mental disorder at a given time. Nearly half (45 percent) of those with any mental disorder meet criteria for 2 or more disorders, with severity strongly related to comorbidity.1
In the U.S., mental disorders are diagnosed based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fourth edition (DSM-IV).4

I've been tormenting myself looking on ebay buyitnow's. And I went to a goldwing forum and found 2 goldwings both with less than 20k,, one still under warranty for 15 or less. And that was with TONS of mods on each. Sigh. Need to start scraping up some cash.

Saving hard here too, we rented a Goldwing this year thought the bike was awesome. We want one toooooooo.

The bike was so comfortable for the two of us, the weight was NO problem at all, all down low. We had an awesome ride over the North Cascades on the wing, enjoyed every minute.

But I have told the wife that we will still have check out the new 6 cyl Beemer, and the Multistrada before we jump, just to make sure of course ! :yahoo: .

Don't worry if we get one, we will still wave, after all we wave at Harley riders too!. :p
