Here are the details:

The 2014 Long Distance motorcycle-riding season is coming to a chilly close. °F evenings with a wind chill of 30°F. (at least that’s what it feels like.)

The Iron Butt InterNational Meet, and many regional LD and 24-hour rallies, Saddle Sores, Bun Burners, 50CCs, UCC, 48++, and B2Bs are in the bag. It’s time to have a little non-competitive fun!!

Welcome to the 13th Annual “Bite the Wieeenie” Ride-To-Eat at Pink’s Hot Dogs in Los Angeles, Saturday, Nov 15, 2013.

Bite the Wieeenie is not a membership based event. It is open to riders of all idiosyncrasies.

Pink's is a honest-to-goodness Hollywood icon, sub-cultural gathering spot and past Iron Butt Rally bonus location. The establishment doesn't know we are coming nor do they care. Whether you're a twerking Mike Kneebone, a demure Lisa Landry, Kim, Khloe, Kourtney or Elvis, everyone waits in line. And the +1-hour wait at midnight for a $3.85 chili dog is aunique Hollywood experience.

Jacked up pickups, bouncing lowriders, Porsches, pimpmobiles, junkers and fully farkled LD motorcycle rigs all share a miniscule parking lot while stretch limos and Hummers circle the block while their contents wait in the +1-hour line.

Besides us LDRiders with ATGATT, it would not be unusual to see unique body piercing, facial tattoos, the best body modifications that money can buy, spikes and dreadlocks, wedding dresses, grunge street wear and barefoot surfers standing in line.
What kind of person rides 1,000 - 1,500 miles in 24 hours for a hot dog?? We typically get 100+ riders 75% from CA but the rest are from Canada, WA, OR, ID, UT, CO, NV, AZ, NV, NM,TX and there's a group riding over from FL.

NEWS FLASH! The Long Beach International Motorcycle Show runs Nov 14, 15 & 16. The Long Beach Convention Center and Pinks are 29 miles apart!

they are talking 16 degrees and snow here. doesn't look good this year as usual. Maybe I should put a winter car tire on the front and go for it.

I hear ya Ray.

My little adventure south is beginning to slip away with this latest weather system coming through...still holding out hope!

13th Annual “Bite the Wieenie” 2014 – A Long-Distance Gastrointestinal Extravaganza!

Los Angeles, CA, November 15, 2014, 11:00 PM

It's done! It in the bank! Many, many wieenies were bit! biteted! (what the hell) consumed!

It’s hard to explain WHY a motorcycle rider would ride all day (and sometimes night) to arrive at a cultural icon in downtown Los Angeles at 10 PM, stand-in-line for 1 hour to order a hot dog and sit with friends at midnight devouring it!!!

This year the California weather was totally friendly – lows 50°F and high mid 70°F. But the rest of the nation was greatly affected by the “Polar Plunge”, a cold front that brought temps in Colorado down through Texas to sub-zero night-time temperatures. Dangerous riding conditions prevented many from attending.

Rider’s from 8 states and 1 Canadian city spent the day following their GPS to waypoint N 34° 5.040, W 118° 20.650, address of Pink’s Hot Dogs. A total of 55 riders checked in: CA 40, Arizona 4, Idaho 3, Oregon 2, Wyoming 2, Texas 1, Utah 1, New Mexico 1, British Colombia 1. A good 1/3rds were IBR vets.

Longest ride was Dann Dossman, 2014 HD Limited, from Temple, TX at 1,538 miles. Dot Webber, 2012 Tiger 800, from Rio Rancho, NM rode 770 miles. Carl and Jonnie Stark rode their Honda GL1800 from Sheridan WY. Rick Sauter from Nelson BC was smart. A “Bite The Wieenie” regular, Rick keeps a bike in the southwest and flew over the Polar Plunge. He stops to “Bite the Wieenie” before heading south into Mexico on a big adventure loop. Michael, Laura, and Arabel Boge, Idaho also dodged ice and snow by flying to spend a vacation in sunny SoCal Biting the Wieenie.

There were many BTW virgins ... Tyler Risk, Erin Leavell and precious little newborn Montessa Loomer to name a few. it's always great to break in new biters!

I have photos but have to post them somewhere then attach a link. Will try to do this later today.
