Well Yesterday I started out at 4:00am from Lancaster PA (rt30 & rt 340) after Kolonial72 came to my aid & signed my witness form at Toms gas station. Well the weather was good BUT it had rained earlier & the roads down in Maryland were still wet & was getting spray from cars until i hit Virginia (on rt95). First stop was at Love`s truck stop in Ruther Glen VA at 214mi`s & put 5 gallons of fuel in (last bar just started flashing). Rode down past Richmond to Petersburg & turn right onto rt85 where i ran down into NC & stopped again in Mebane NC at 214 mi`s & added 5 gallons again (starting to see a pattern) I was able to go the rest of the way to my turn around spot in Bessemer city NC (553mi`s)so more fuel & I couldn`t help myself as the bike just ran so good :D . I made it back to Middleburg NC for fuel (yes 5 gallons :glare: ) When i just rode into VA it poured rain all the way to Petersburg VA (got passed by a R1200RT  ) From there i made it to Fredericksburg VA for more fuel (yup 5 gallons) after a few (i can do this) i got back on the road & made it to my last stop (rt340 & rt30 Toms in Lancaster PA) I had my wife meet me & sign my witness form & took some pics.

On a side note, i did stop at rest stops & refilled my camel back & ate some breakfast bars for meals. I did 1,106mi`s total (GPS miles, not ODO) in 19 hours & 45 min & did 42.8mi`s per gallon. As for seats my Sargent seat was a little better than my stocker but at the 900mi mark, my butt was just about done  as the last 200mi`s or so was pure torture  (guess i`ll be in for a group buy for a Russel this winter. :p

Way to go! I did my SS 4 years ago this week and loved every mile (well almost every mile) on my Mayer seat. You get extra man points for doing it on a Sargent as IMHO, they're tougher to handle than stock! Congrats on your accomplishment.

Way to Go. Great job, hoped you bounced back to normal by now!

Did mine Friday June 10th. From NH to Buffalo NY and back,

Time 19 hours and 1060 Miles

Still getting everything ready to mail out.

Thanks guys & if wasn't for my butt bones hurting, I would do it again tomorrow . (With a different seat of course)

I will be attempting a SS1K on a Sargent seat with a Sheepskin pad. God help me!!

I will be attempting a SS1K (and GBU rally) on a stock seat with a Sheepskin pad. This will be fun!

Anyway...congrats Roadstar! Having lived in Virginia, and now out here in the PNW, I cringe thinking about an IBA ride out there. Traffic is killer. Though, I do like how the states are a bit smaller...state crossings always give me more energy. Don't have that experience as much cruising across all of Washington...and then Montana...

The only thing that helped (some) was wild bill`s hwy plates & kuryakyn iso pegs & extensions, but after awhile the seat was pinching a nerve & (not the middle one :p ) & from then on it was tough.

Good luck & i won`t do the BB1500 until i change my seat.

Congrats Gerard.

Had I thought about it, you could have borrowed my Russell for the trip.

Well i just finished up my paper work & going to send it in tomorrow. :yahoo:

Not sure if it`s overkill, but not only did i point out the stops on a map, i also printed out the actual route i ran. Just hope i didn`t forget anything (wound up with 10 pages to send them). :D

Thanks pete !!, but i think i`m a wee bit heavier than you (OK ALOT) :p

Hey i`ll see you soon at Russell`s

Congrats on the SS1K.

I love my Russell seat. I couldn't be more comfortable in the saddle. IMO it will definitely extend the time you will be willing to ride each day and consecutive days.

Good luck with your next ride!

Congrats on the SS1000! It's awesome thing to say you pulled that off.

Did my first (official) one last August on a very broken in Corbin seat with a sheepskin pad. Looking forward to attempting the BBG1500 in a few weeks. Should be interesting.

And now you know one of the biggest "secrets" of the LD community; a good seat is everything. A big congratulations on your ride :)

Congrats on your first SS1000! That is always the BIGGEST IBA ride you'll ever do.

Did my first on a stock seat with an airhawk I believe. Now days, you couldn't pry my Bill Mayer saddle away from me.

Thanks for all the replys, & I have been wanting to do this for many years. Im sure the bikes I did own would have been fine to do it, but the FJR seamed just the right bike to do the ride , at this time.
