Phil's 08 is by the side of the road. Will just stop running. 7 flashes of hazards, 7 more, repeat continuously.

Not kill switch and doesn't think side stand. Seems worse the warmer it is....maybe altitude. Bike has been running hot, but coolant is at least to bottom.

I suggested fiddling with ignition switch.

Spider bite? Amy easy to check by side of road before AAA gets there?

Anybody in Tulsa area that might be able to help? He has 100+ miles of towing and not thinking a dealer at this point.

IrishPhil is back on the road and backtracking a bit. "Phil knows bonuses!!!"

Keep Going!

I wanted to give out a huge thank you to everyone who responded to my distress call a few days back. And a huge thank you to Matt, who helped me

walk through the roadside diagnostic maze of possibilities. While in route to a timed bonus (read big points) in Tulsa, OK the bike basically turned itself off.

Leaving me stranded by the side of the road. The past few days I had traveled through some extreme heat in the southwest and over some mountain passes

in CO. When the temp ran hot it had shut itself down several times before. Always was able to reset and restart. Through the higher elevations the temp

would fluctuate quite dramatically. Very much out of character for this bike. This time the bike would not reset and restart. On the advice of Matt I got to work

disassembling and checking various possibilities. Battery, Ignition switch. And finally locating the ground connection under the tank. As AAA arrived I felt I

could guide the local dealer to the problem and expedite its repair. Once at the dealer, they were able to strip and solder the wires and secure a temporary

ground. After returning to the scene of the breakdown, as per IBR rules, I headed to the checkpoint in Allen, TX. Approx 4 hours. I was in safely before

penalty time began.

I was lucky to have some excellent people behind the scenes to help me continue on .Thank you to all who took part in this epic adventure.

The worst part of all of this is the fact we have over 100 weeks until the next time!

Congrats on the finish!

Phil
Hopefully you can make the Fall tech meet and talk about your IBR experience. Glad you got the help you needed and could finish!
