I missed most of the problems with a ice storm, I was in Atlanta all week. At my house, we lost power around 5pm on thursday. Everyone around here was in a panic, where my wife works thay sold over 1000 gal of milk in 6 hours. What is that all about..... There was not a generator to be found, I did some calling to every Home depot and Lowes. I found one in Paducah Ky, 180 miles away. While I was on my way home early Sat. morning on my super fast "Blue FJR" my buddy Skinny Dave was off to get my new generator.

I leave south side of Atlanta around 3am Hooterville time, and blast home. Temps in the low 30's, but clear sky's... I get home around 1:30 pm to the biggest mess I have seen in a long time. Tree's bent and broken and in my area around 500,000 people with out power. Well dave shows up around 5pm (Saturday) with my new generator, but in vane. Power comes back on 15 minutes before he makes it to my house. Wife spent a few days at my mom and dad's. They where without power, but have a fireplace to keep warm. After I returned home we spent a few hours throwing a few hundred dollors of food out of the icebox. Two tree's in my back yard will have to come down, and I will have to repair my my fence. I should have just stayed in Alanta.. :p Here are a few pic's.... Smitty

So did the weather stop you from doing the IRON BUTT coming home?

Sorry to hear about the outage and the damage. Lucky the pooches didn't escape through the fence, although it sure looks blocked.

We were lucky up here. Dodged the bullet. That storm missed us by about 30 miles. Just west of here, there's ice under about 8 - 14 inches of snow. We got a light dusting.

smitty, sorry to hear about the damage. Here we started out with some freezing rain but it turned to snow and left us with about 12" of the stuff. :angry2:

Sorry Smitty about the damage. :(

Glad you got home safely on FJR. Thanks to Dogger Dave you now have the emergency generator you've always wanted. :)

Could been worse! Trees could've snapped and hit the house! ICE sucks! That's why I live in FLA. lol
Maybe no ice down in FL, but I bet there are occasionally some trees down and power out down there :)

No SS-1000 for me... I wanted to make it home in the daylight. I was afraid of refreeze on the roads once I was close to home. If I would did the SS, I would not have made it home till around 10pm. Bummer, but I am home with out any problems.. Smitty :)

Yeah, those pesky hurricanes! 2004 we were out for 6 1/2 days. That gen. is your best friend then! Kept the window shaker going and both frigs, tv and lights. Mine ran 24/7, we'll 6 1/2! lol Well worth the $$!

We got 11 inches of snow on top of freezing rain and ice here. No power out.

Neighbor brought a tractor and bladed my driveway, but my Pontiac is stuck in the yard after it couldn't make it back up the hill to the garage, and slid backwards with the brakes locked. Got sideways and couldn't do a 180 on a 8 foot wide drive. (ABS doesn't work when going backwards I guess.) Warmed enough to turn the snow to ice today while I was out of town. Should have driven the Ranger.

Wrecker driver will get some more Christmas money tomorrow. :(

Maybe I should return the wife's gifts to the Coldwater Creek Store-- that's why the car left the garage today. :angry2:

I am glad to hear you made it home safely Smitty!

We got a total of 3" ice with about 7" snow. These side roads are REALLY dangerous when the sun goes down and the roads turn to black ice...

No power outages in my neighborhood, But 1500 people went without for a day. Nasty storm, But i missed it totally! :)

Had a great visit with her. Did some x-mas shopping and had to buy those bags that vacuum down to nothing. First time I seen them used my buddy Petey had 3 days of cloths in a small tail bag(Thanks for the insight Peter). Went out to eat a few times, and just sat around and watch TV.

It was a great 5 day trip, did Deals gap, Cherohala Skyway, and trimmantom turn me on to some great roads in North Georgia.

Howdy smitty:

If she is the daughter I met, she is one really nice kid (and I still say any girl that good looking should have a bodyguard), best wishes to her.

Hope to pick your brain about the Cherohala the next time we ride-- I'd like to ride it someday. Will try to make the spring H400.

Of course - I've been looking for that water tower with the three nekid babes in it my whole life!

Also, I need to ask the obvious question - How are the Hooters in Hooterville?
