Interesting idea. Certainly seems to warrant further investigation. Many SPOT users advocate keeping the unit on one's person (as opposed to on the bike) in case bike and rider become separated. This device fulfills that criterion and automatically transmits, too although it is not clear to me what communications channels must be available for it to transmit.

Looks like it contacts your phone via bluetooth and calls your ice contact.

NOT putting one of these on my dirtbike helmet! :D

Pretty cool device. It assumes there will be text messaging service for First Responders to be able to access patient information, which is often not the case in the Sierras where many of us in the Land of Fruits and Nuts ride. Has some possibilities, however, I'm sticking with my SPOT for now, but would be interested in some user feedback if anyone gets one.

Looks like it depends on cellular service and, for that reason, is pretty much useless.

If my area is 80% covered by cell this would be 80% effective. When compared to Satcom (SPOT) It's very cheap.

There are also phone apps that uses a smart phone to determine a get off and will initiate contact.

Depends on your useage. Of course, where it'd be really good, my daily commute through the hell of Dallas, it'd be fantastic. However, someone else on the road is likely to dial 911 so it wouldn't be THAT helpful.

I could see it though, cleaning your garage, drop your helmet, then all the Emergency Services folks pull up into your driveway.
