Ok, This thing started stalling out in mid flight when I'd let the throttle loose while coming to a stop. It starts right up again but, It'll quit again at the next stop. My idle speed is 1000rpm and it would creep slowly to 750-ish and creep back to 1000. It wants to stall even when in idle. No Codes show up on the screen. I went to adjust the idle speed upwards but, It's maxed out and wont turn anymore. Is there something I can do to get some more out of the adjuster?

Sincerely,

You'll need to do a TBS.

Back off the idle adjuster and the air bleed screws

then re-sync.

Should then have more range of idle adjustment.

If not enough, do it again till you do.

start with battery connection sounds like a similar problem I had with my 09 stalls when coming to a stop tightened battery connection with 10mm wrench and problem is gone besides it easy to check.

Dave,

After reading about all sorts of symptoms and the usual culprit is loose battery terminals, that's the first thing I checked and they are tight and clean as a whistle. Thanks! I went to the dealer and to my buddy at Spider Racing, and they agree on the TBS. They both also mentioned that my throttle bodies might be gummed up and need some cleaning. Spider will drop what he's doing and knock that out tomorrow and won't do anything that isn't needed.

Have them check ALL the vacuum hoses too, as your symptoms do sound a bit like a leak in the vacuum system, maybe one of the hoses cracked or came off, also check that the 4 nipples (used for TBS) are still there and not cracked/leaking.

Thanks, James. I'll mention that to him although this guy is a pro. I'm sure he'll give it the Full Monty. I just want everything ready for EOM. :D

How many miles are on the bike? Any chance the plugs need to be replaced. Daddy always said to do the simple things first. Well, on the FJR checking the plugs is not a walk in the park, but it is really not that bad. If you do check them you might as well replace them while your'e there even if they seem OK. If this doesn't fix the problem, you're only out a half hour and a handful of bucks. If it does fix it, yay! Whatever you decide to do, I hope you get it worked out quickly.

Just turned 80K. Plugs are fresh. I just did a full Monty including air filter, brake, clutch and coolant fluids. I keep her spruced up so she can get me where I need to go. The only thing I suck at is electrical stuff. Good thing I have a few electrical friends who like ice cold beer. :)

Update: TBS was on the dime. TP was on the dime. A few vacuum caps needed replacing and the TB's were extremely dirty just like FredW's. They are getting a spit shine as we speak. The bike should be between my thighs by Tuesday. Perfect timing, I have a little road trip for the July 4th weekend. :D

Nope, no power commander on my bike. It was running like a Swiss watch until the stalling started. I'm sure it'll be all good again. :)

Update on the Update: Got the bike back today. TB's look like new. TBS and TP done. Runs like a Swiss watch again. Could I have done it myself?... Yes. Was it worth $200 for an expert to do all that for me?... Hell Yes! Have a great weekend, Ya'll. :D

Just picked up an 03 with 68 (soon to be 69)k. The bike runs exceptionally well and I don't THINK its a ticker. Anyway, I noticed coming home today it was idling at almost 1400 rpm. seems a tad high to me. (just returned from a 400 mile jaunt and WELL warmed up). Is that a symptom of the same TBS syndrome? or should I leave well enough alone?? btw, I didn't notice that it was idling this high earlier in the day, although maybe I just missed it.
