I am not the original owner of an '06. I understand that in the USA the switch replacement is a mandated recall. Some say Yamaha in Canada will do it. Is it a mandatory recall up here? Will Yamaha do it for not original owners? Do I just ask any dealer to do it?

Kudos to this list for all the fixes and work on the recall.

P.S. Is there a place to find out official recalls in Canada?

Go to any Yamaha dealer with the VIN number and they will okay the repair. If you have any problems, be sure to post. There is no reason for it not to be covered.

The original owner would have received the notice and if he was a "nice guy" he would have returned it with the new owner's address on it. Not likely I suspect.

As noted, any Yamaha dealer will be able to do the recall with no charge to you. It isn't a warranty issue but rather a safety recall.

Mines getting done ths weekend.

I just noticed that you are from Hamilton too. If you PM me I'll tell where not to go locally.

Just go into any Yamaha dealer. When they type in your VIN number they have on record if the work was done or not. They will fix it for free even though you are not the origional owner.

You don't need the letter to get the work done. I left mine at home when I brought the bike in.
