Just signed the paperwork today and I'm now the owner of a brand new 2012 FJR!! Odometer is all zeros. Piaa sport horns, cruise control and HyperLite was added as it was getting unpacked. Dealer is storing it in his garage until the salt is off the roads here in NY.

When I figure out how to post pictures I will. Can it be done without using picasa? If yes, please shoot me a PM. Tried using snapfish and facebook but no luck.

HyperLites look good. They are low profile and very bright in running light mode, then goes in to laser vision correction mode when the brake is used.

By the way, 2012 isn't listed yet as an option for your profile. Picked the 2005 just because that year was blue, just for now.

Congrats. :clapping:

Looks like Iggy/Slappy/Warchild/SkooterG/Adam/Bounce has been sleeping on the job regarding adding 2012 into the profile.

In the meantime, it was 2006 that had the Cobalt Blue that is like the 2012. I'd wipe that 2005 year off your profile pronto, as it is more of the Barney/purplish blue. :p

Congrats on the new addition. After reading so much about the bike on this site and on many others, I thought about getting one for quite some time. Then, after riding a Blue FJR last weekend for a few hours and (having an extremely difficult time) returning it to the dealer, I pulled the trigger on a Silver leftover that was sitting on the floor. Can't wait til next weekend when I can start riding it.

Congrats again, and many happy sMiles on the new addition.

Congrats on the purchase! Hope the salt goes away quick so you can enjoy the new scoot...you won't be disappointed! :)

I use Photobucket for posting pics, but most any of the hosting sites work fine.

Thanks for pointing me to photobuck and here are a few pictures. Also added some PIAA sport horns, just couldn't a good enough pic of those. The dealer did a good job tucking them in under the fairing.

Here it is!! This kind of has a purple shade to it, the pic on Yamaha's web site is much closer to the color when you see the bike up close and personal.

ODO all zeros. :)

Bought HyperLites and had the dealer install them. The lights are in running mode in this shot, then modulates from this to laser vision correction mode when the brake is used.

Deang you send that rig out here to sunny SoCal and I'll have it nicely broken in for you before the snow melts.. ...lol.....seriously tho, nice rig and you've done it right......get the farkles right out of the box.......

Congrats on the new bike. I have a friend who just took delivery of one, and I have one suggestion. If the bike is mounted with Bridgestone BT021 tires, ask the dealer if they will swap with BT023 or another more appropriate tire before you take possession. Pay them the cost differential and mounting costs if necessary, but a BT021 tire MIGHT go 4500 miles on that bike, and it's worth changing.

LgFJR, thanks for the offer but I'll pass. Don't want to risk it falling in to the ocean. :D Thanks, it's still hasn't fully sunk in that it's all mine. :)

TomInCA, thanks for the idea but I'm not too sure if I will get that past the accountant. When that tire does wear out this summer I'll have a bit of explaining to do then. Harder to explain replacing a new tire with a new tire. Lol.

When I saw it last weekend I didn't make that good of a mental note of what kind of tires are on it. Busy soaking in everything else, just looking and smiling. Anyway I want to say Avon sticks out in my mind when I did give the tires a quick look, don't hold me to that. I might take a trip out to the dealer this weekend just to look at it. I'll make a better note of what tires are on it and report back.

Congrats on your new ride, you will love it. Same color that I have, but mine is 6 years older! Anyway, it's the fastest, so no worries. You can find lots of tire information in the NEPRT (Never Ending Pointless Recurring Threads) forum. Nobody agrees on this tire S%#T, so be prepared for lots of confusing advice. But, IMHO you can't go too wrong with Michelin PR2's!!

The thought was the dealer might credit you the value of the new tire in a swap. It's a long shot, and the upside is the BT021 sticks like glue to the road, so it can be fun...for a short while anyway. ;)

Yep, good advice, that's what mine had, just didn't last too long but I had no problems with them.

Thanks,

Thanks,
Congratulations on the new ride (almost).

I like anticipation as much as the next guy, but I'd have a tough time waiting for the thaw! "You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din."

Ship it out here to the left coast and it can share the garage with my 'Wing -- and have an ocean view.

That rear tire appears to be a Metzeler Z6. Anybody have an opinion on those? I had good luck with the Z8's.

Congratulations on the new bike.

I also had all zero's on the odometer when I took delivery of mine. PAY ATTENTION, be very careful with your very first few miles, the brakes will be slick, very slick the very first time. At least that was my experience. It really took me by surprise. That also means they didn't road test it after initial assembly, it didn't turn out to be any issue for me, just be aware.

Here is my day one odometer, notice the temp.
