Living around Chicago it is quickly coming to the end of the riding season. :( I rode a lot in the Spring but then it got ungodly hot around here for the whole summer. Didn't ride then. Maybe 1 or 2 Sunday rides left for the year . This sucks.

Please I need sympathy .

Man, I know what you mean. This is what I have to look forward to for the next several months. Winter sucks.

Heeeey maaaan. No sympathy here.

Didn't ride then????? Duuuuuuuuude! It's ungodly hot here from April to September. I ride every day.

No excuse!!!!

:nono:

And...........I rode to Chicago back at the end of August. It was freaking awesome then! You better have been riding.

Jbay,

I too live in the Chicago area BUT I rode all summer even in the HOT weather we had. Not fun but still a hot day on the FJR is better than sittin at home.

TWN,

DAMM YOU!!! You just have to rub it in, don't ya? :bleh: Oh well I guess snow and cold is better than rocking and a rolling IN your home. Earthquakes suck more than snow. Have a safe and fun WINTER and ride some for us here in the tundra. :p

Sorry dude! No sympathy here either! Down south here in Houston we ride in 100 deg. heat w/humidity to match! If you don't, you just don't ride..wear lots of mesh, drink lots (of water!) and think cool thoughts. Yeah you're right-- that last one never works. Or, if you're a Harley kinda guy, just soak your do-rag in beer; it's quicker that way since you're just gonna sweat it out! :haha: The upside is our 'winter' usually consists of 7 days or less of *lightly* freezing temps.

Charleston, SC hot, hot, hot this summer. Sweating, broiling, sticking, but........................still smiling; get out there and ride.

Now comes the fall and winter, it's gonna get cold (okay not like Chicago) but if the roads are clear, I'm going to be out there.............................smiling.

Didn't realize it was snowing up there already. :bleh:

:cold: don't hurtcha.

:hockey: get out there and show 'em you're not a pussy.

:tease:

Actually guys the older I get , the more I can't take the heat . It also wouldn't be a bad Idea to loose 30 pounds. Food sucks too ! Why did I ever quit smoking ? Now look what happened. Oh now I remember , I couldn't breathe . :D

JBay,

I feel your pain. I used to live in the mountains of Vermont. With the snowplower pushing piles in front of my bike shed and snow sloughing off the roof it was often June before my bike was free. The alternative was shoveling and picking through the 10' pile of compacted snow (e.g., ice), and then deal with all the snowmelt and sand on the roads.

Looks like it's dangerous to ask for sympathy around here!

I know it gets hot in Chicago, but the hot season in Texas is at least six months of the year, sometimes longer. We might as well ride anyway--it's too hot to do ANYTHING! Well, almost. B)

Food sucks?! What part of the city do live at?! If you need a list of good food let me know. I worked on private ambulances for 4 yrs b4 i got on the dept. North to southside if you were hungry you had to eat where you were. And i'm gonna ride til i see ice out there. pair of xtra sweats does the trick.Trust me,when you have a lake breeze blowing places you never knew it could hit at 2a.m in january you learn how to layer fast, especially if you want to keep your nuts from becoming ovaries!! how long did it take you to stop the craving and what method did you use to quit smoking? just asking cuz thats my winter project this year :cigar: :bye2:

Yeah food sucks . I love food but gaining weight is the ugly by product. I quit

2 1/2 packs a day in 85 and am still feeling the effects . Substitute food for cigarettes . I think when I quit my metabolism changed for the worse. Tried to quit and failed many times over 10 yrs. Back then there was a system for quitting . $250 which got me 4 small shots of some vitamin, mineral concoction . 1 shot in front of each ear and 1 on each cheek. In the past I was able to quit for maybe 2 days max . This was the only thing that got me over the 2 or 3 day hump that I was never able to do before. Got easier after a week and a 1/2. Complete craving ended after a year. Most difficult thing I ever did. Never had another cigarette .

Just one cigarette away from being a smoker again. Moral of the story : Don't ever start.

Good luck with your attempt.

Actually, g, I'll take the quakes over blizzards, tornadoes or hurricanes any day.
+1! The ground shakes for 8-10 seconds and then it's over; Hurricanes, tornados, and blizzards seem to last forever and normally do way more damage. :)

I have one word for you: Hypnosis.

Well JBay, I'll give you some sympathy.

I feel your pain, It sucks not to be able to ride!!!

(of course once I clear the deer fur from the bike and it comes out of the shop, the sympathy ends and I'm with the others!!) :D :D
