Here's the scenario....I was on my way back home from a nice ride, coming down I-35 from the north. Sunday afternoons are busy on this stretch with people returning home from camping/boating etc... I spot a white 'busa coming up fast behind me, but he got hung out in a slow lane. A minute later after he cleared his slow lane he comes roaring past me doing a wheely in heavy traffic, and with his helmet hanging off the side off his bike, (maybe he just uses it as a slider !?!?!?!). I was doing about 75, he must have been at about 85 and on one wheel.

:shok: I didn't know a wheely at that speed was possible, so with that I was impressed.

 On the other hand he did it in the wrong place, at the wrong time, and without protective gear. He must have a death wish.

Typical squid.

You can also wheelie a GW or Valk if you're talented enuf, I've seen it, that's impressive.

But the place, time and the rest... invincible kid...until something happens.

My brother was like that... till he hit the water wrong diving into the swimming pool.... 37 years ago. He's still in a wheelchair and misses riding everyday.

Man, doesn't he know that the helmet holders on the 'busa aren't strong enough to handle those kinds of wind speeds? It says it right in the owner's manual!

If I had a nickel for every time I heard about some busa rider's helmet falling off his bike at 80, I'd have a helmet full of nickels...

Seriously, though, that's pretty foolhardy, if no other reason than the perception that it generates in the public eye. I'm think stunt riding is cool, and I sure wish I could ride awesome wheelies, but stunts don't belong on the street.

Wish I could wheelie at 85. I've had others pass me doing it. But then again, there isn't an intact piece of plastic on their bikes.... so, maybe not.

I have a friend with an '05 turbo Hyabusa for sale, like new. Before adding a stretched swingarm, it would wheelie at 100+. I'd love to have it, but couldn't endure the riding posture.

I wouldn't worry about the guy's helmet. If it was a turbo 'Busa, then - yes. He definately does have a death wish.

At that speed the aerodynamics of the bike on one wheel has to have a serious impact on keeping it up high enough, without flipping it. I haven't done a wheelie since I was about 14, and it was on a bicycle. Can't imagine risking your bike, and life doing it on the freeway.

Damn....I'm gettin old. Sounds like sumpin' my old man would say. :uhoh:

And yet we sit here all smug and talk about how we have added HP to our bikes or how fast we go through the twisties etc. Somewhere there is a cruser guy or an old man in a pickup truck calling us idiots.

Those old guys, and cruiser riders must be commenting on your riding. I'm not just being smug, he's also putting my life in danger too if he wrecks in front of me. There's a place, and a time for that, and this instance wasn't either.

p.s....I'm fine with my horsepower.

Feeling guilty???? did I name you? Just made a comment in general.

Guilty? no. You just made a comment in which you stereo-typed FJR riders by saying "we". Speak for youself.... based on facts, or your personal opinion. Don't assume we are all like you.

I based what I posted on what I have read on this forum on many occasions by many divergent posters. If you don't fit this fine but many do and many who will break the speed limits and brag about it will then post smart *** remarks about the squids. Like I said we live in one big glass house here.

Well I am sorta new and all but isn't the landing a bit hard on the ol' fork seals and rims? I have seen this many times and that is always the first thing going trough my mind. Then I start thinking about the rear brakes and a 2x4 sitting in the middle of the road. Guess I am a wimp when it comes to that. Course I don't know if my AE will do one and I know my Sprint EX wouldn't.

It will, did a small one by accident the other day. Had bike fully loaded with camping gear on the back was getting on hard an the next thing I know I got about a foot of air under my front wheel. Kept on power and front wheel came down soft.
