Well... I got roped into taking a cruise out of Ft Lauderdale and am staying a few days after the cruise to catch a cheaper flight home. Thinking a quick ride down to the keys or somewhere around FL would be great if I could rent a bike.

The cruise arrives back in port early Sunday morning (Feb1) and our flight out is Midday Tuesday (Feb3) So...

Anyone know a good place to rent a sporttouring or adventuretouring bike for a couple days?

Any suggestions on what to do, where to stay, with that limited time?

Thanks in advance for any advise!

Jeff , it 3.5 hrs on a good day if traffic is moving well. Resist the urge to scream down the shoulder. The police will be waiting for you. Go to the tourist info booth at Key West Visitors Center 1601 North Roosevelt Boulevard. They will find you the best room on Duval st for the best price.

Have fun.

ps you weren't roped into anything.

Riding A1A is a nice ride. But honestly it often becomes stop and go. I would not limit myself to finding an adventure bike or a sport touring bike. Actually I have a cruiser and an FJR. When going for a beach ride I generally take the cruiser.

If I could only own one bike the cruiser would be gone and only the FJR would be in my garage. However for a beach ride it's hard to beat a cruiser.

Steve, I'm looking at EagleRider, great location, but pricey IMHO.

Anthony, Got that PM thing cleared up. :)

FJR2011, unfortunately it doesn't look like Chester's rents anything but HDs. :(

Tom, While I'm sure I'll enjoy myself on the cruise, I could find a lot more enjoyable ways to spend that kind of money. Maybe when I get older...

Ray, Yeah, I found RMM in my searches and he looks like a great option in terms of bikes equipment and such. WPB is a bit away from FL so it'd cost us a few hours getting there and then back to FL to fly home. I'll drop your name and see if it helps.

Rob, Thanks for the tips. Never thought of using a visitor center as a booking agent. :) You think that's better than trying to book something in advance?

Dan, If I had my choice, I'd get a naked bike like the FZ-09 for the beach ride, but 2-up, nothing beats an ST for me. :)

Jeff I've used the visitor centre twice now with great success. once on Memorial day weekend. Still got a place right on Duval. Once , half a block from Duval.
