I love Indy Car, despite it's shortcomings, but wow, did anyone else notice the distinct lack of fans in the stands for tonight's season finale? Did ISC not bother helping to advertise it? That's real disappointing, but hopefully, next season will be better.

Kinda sucks that Power put it into the wall; as long as Franchitti keeps the car alive, he's champ.

At least F1 figures to finish close.

IRL sucks. Period.

Oval races are boring, and the road races are parades. Very much like what it was supposed to solve from back in the CART days. It isn't going to change until they get away from spec-car racing.

Agreed, but it's just about all we have, lol. I spent time flipping between LeMans and IRL tonight...LeMans was quite interesting. I know Indy's new leader is working toward some changes and hopefully, it'll make things better....but I'm not happy about the "aero package" cars coming down the pike. I guess it comes down to the costs involved. Personally, I'd like to see a more freewheeling version of F1 over here with real manufacturers involved, but that'll probably never happen.

BTW, anyone ever laugh out loud when they see the names of some NASCAR races? :D

I'm sure ISC did some advertising, but given how hard a time we have had filling seats for NASCAR races, low attendance at an IRL event doesn't surprise me. If you notice HMS is not on the 2011 IRL schedule... actually if you look at the 2011 schedule, ISC is not hosting any IRL events....

I quite watching Indy Cars when CART died. I think I've watched one IRL race since that series was created.

I did read, though, that there's a good chance that was the last Indy race at Homestead. Not only did the track lose money on the race, but the IRL (or whatever they're called now) told the Homestead folks that the fee would go up 30% next year.

The track's response is something along the lines of, "We like you, but blow me."

Gunny!

If ya ask me, Tony George is an ***** and destroyed open-wheel racing in the US. Michelin didn't do F1 any favors in the US, either, but that's a different discussion.

I'm not surprised that HMS' attendance was down. I pay attention to NASCAR more than the open-wheel stuff (except for Danica.... Rawr!!!) and have seen more open seats at NASCAR races than I have ever seen. Maybe the twits in Daytona will get a clue and drop ticket prices - the heyday is over, IMNSHO.
