Well, I formally introduced my FJR to someones driveway and a lot of mud.
Totally my fault, I was riding behind a pickup pulling a large trailer. The trailer blocked my view, but I could see there was no oncoming traffic so I passed him. As I passed him I realize that not too far ahead is a nasty left turn. I see through the brush that there is a car coming from the other side of the curve, so I immediately get back into my lane and start braking hard. I almost slow down enough, but having to get back into the right lane and then take a hard left just didn't give me enough time for the speed I entered the turn. I get about 1/4 way through the turn when I think the target fixation on the ditch ahead set it. I don't know if I could have made the turn, but I stood it up and hoped I could just ride through the grass and decel safely. All is well, I'm off the road and my wheels are straight, then I hit a drivewy, the bike goes down and I go flying over the handlebars.
Here's the reslut.
apparently frame sliders don't work on mud and grass.
Now the only thing that really concerns me. Look how off center the tire looks.
I rode it home though, with no wierd wobbling or pulling. Felt absolutely fine up to speeds of 40.
I'm going to try to get all the parts from ebay, and have them painted. Anticipating between 1500-2200 to fix most of this. I will do all the labor of pulling parts and putting it back together. Just hoping its all cosmetic at this point.
Alright, now when do I get my crash club t-shirt!!!!!!!!!!
Oh does anyone know if the front fender from an 03 will fit the 04?
