Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum and wanted to say hello.

I'm interested in a FJR AE and I'm trying to gather some information. A local dealer has a new 2007 for sale and ofcourse some 08's and 09's too. The 07 interests me to get a good deal.

I'm just a novice when it comes to skill level on a motorcycle. I used to have an R6 that I purchased in 99 as a first bike. Love the sportbike style, but I don't need balls to the wall speed. So far I like the look and features that come on an FJR and the AE model peeks my interest.

Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Rob

Howdy Rob.

Read more of the postings here. You'll find that for most the FJR is the perfect all-round bike. The AE is no different. Between the 07, 08, or 09 there is essentially no difference. Go for the best deal of out of what's available. Put the extra dollars elsewhere.

If you have a level head, don't worry about being a novice. Stay within your skills; YOU "ride" the bike, and never let the roles switch. And always respect the power and dynamics of this two-wheeled machine.

Good wishes for what you choose.

Good advice from 'ridernotbiker'. The FJR will give you speed, be careful to never let your emotions control your wrist. It's a big heavy bike too, so learn to feel it out for a few weeks to get used to the weight. Not a big deal really, but don't underestimate it.

Many of the FJR riders will tell you that it's mild rider position and good road manners are what make it a great bike for city and touring use. Enjoy it, and the community.

I'm somewhat new to the FJR and this forum as well.

As far as I can tell -- you are looking at the right bike and certainly the right forum -- here, you'll find a helpful group of folks.

Good luck on the bike decision.

I'm new to the FJR and this type of riding. After riding cruisers forever and a 96ci lead sled for the last few years, the FJR feels like a bicycle with a rocket engine on it. I'm amazed at how it is so much faster, lighter, manueverable, quieter, fuel efficient and just so much fun to ride. You made a good choice!

Bought my 07AE new last October. Great bike, wonderful handling for a full size (heavy) bike. Compared to the R6 it is a good bit heavier, but the performance will be "right there".

Take your time, learn the machine and you'll do fine. The AE is, to me, a GREAT option. I bought my bike because of a great deal, but after having the "E" for several months am sure it was the right thing. I've ridden various bikes over the years (also currently ride a 900SS Ducati) so clutch operation wasn't a big deal, BUT it is pretty spiffy. Use your index finger and "pull up" for upshifts and "push down" for downshifts (never use the thumb thingy myself)

Try it, you'll like it
